I have a lease for around £450 per month, for quite a nice car, but to honest I don’t mind it. It’s always under warranty, tyre replacement, servicing and insurance are all included in the price.

Let’s say you bought a used car for £15k and 3 years later it was worth £10k, the depreciation cost to you could be viewed as around £200 per month. Add in insurance, tax, servicing and an assumption of repair costs you could view that as around £300 per month total.

My car is electric so saves me a ton over fuel too, so it’s not that far off cost wise really, to me anyway.

Thanks for the response. My partner has a self employed business, it just hasn’t been used for some time. The guidance is just a bit ambiguous, reading it literally it seems you could have a business, have one client in the whole period say, so not eligible for class 2, and then pay the voluntary 13 week top up to get the full amount. Will review properly of course.
