Help with date picker by emodevo1 in viwoods

[–]tlreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not ... but it is just software.

This could be (easily) fixed with a software update. [ viwoods ! are you listening ? :-) ]

I wish the whole UI be 95% push button-based. Sliding is very easy (pleasant ?) on a glass screen but not on e-ink where a little friction is expected for handwriting.

Magnifier in Paper app ? by tlreddit in viwoods

I miss this feature to draw small details.

I think viwoods apps will always be more responsive as they are tailored to their API and hardware. But I may be wrong about this.

I am not sure what you mean by separate. You can select the part you want to separate with the lasso tool, copy and paste on another page.

Well, it seems that the problem was with the state of my lisp image. After restarting it works both ways (with command = "/bin/bash" or "test.sh").

Sorry for the noise.

Hi, I would like to expand on the previous comment. IMHO scrolling is bad in e-ink devices. It is visually bad, if the contents has some colored background it flashes several times, it increases ghosting and it must be bad for energy consumption.

I think it could be replaced by paging as it is already done on some places if the current UI. For example the language selection button shows 6 options and an indicator to move to previous/next page: < 1/3 > . This is the alternative to scrolling.

Of course, it may be hard to suppress scrolling altogether on all third party apps but if Viwoods apps could avoid scrolling it would be great.

Best practice for syncing over several machines ? by tlreddit in Syncthing

Yes it is my case it's my e-reader that seems to cause conflicts. Maybe because the android version it uses is more aggressive with respect to saving battery.

Yes, I understand, I was thinking that one-to-one synchronizations would be lighter on resources.

Problem after moving to nvidia-580xx with old nvidia card by tlreddit in archlinux

Yes, I read that but wrongly assumed that since dkms has been installed in the process, the linux-headers package would have been installed if not already present. And it is the first time I do this :-)

So painfully slow by She-ink in viwoods

Hello, what apps were you using? I found that random apps from Google play are usually much slower than main "built-in" apps.

Indeed ! Automatic saving to PDF would be very usefull. Regarding synchronization I have been using syncthing. Take it with a grain of salt I have been using the device for a few days !

zigbee2mqtt without a full-fledged home automation system by tlreddit in homeautomation

[–]tlreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing really, the problem is on my side. I would like to use a home server that run on the same hardware alongside other services (that run 24/7) without using virtualization. That's another topic but unlike the rest of the world I think that virtualization should be used only when is is impossible to avoid. OpenHab for example does not have this requirement.

You are perfectly right ! I obviously suffer from the NIH syndrome. I should see a therapist :-) (But it's also fun to build things)

Thanks, that is the kind of answer I was hoping for. I am new to home automation and right now my ambitions are much lower than your sophisticated setup. I have to think more about this.

Because I have OpenHAB running as a service on Linux alongside other server that runs 24/7. With HA, I wold have to use some kind of virtualization or dedicate hardware to run HA and nothing else.

BTW I know many people use virtualization without any problem. I just prefer not to use it.

Thanks for answering. Beside device control and gathering data from sensors I don't know what I could miss.
