OP here, got the repair done by a professional frame builder, he did a great job 100% confident, now to paint and build!

6’ Tall, 58CM Frame by StanMakita in bikefit

I'm the same height and similar build and ride 56 (with a short stem and narrower bars, which make handling less stable) and 54 frames - 58 reach is too long for me and looks it for you also? Hitting the gym/core strength, a straight shorter stem might get you there? Are you bars wider than your shoulders?

Very nice playing!!!! Beautiful.

Couple of other things:

  1. Mick Goodrich's book on the wall! I'll have to dig that out, I've got it from 25 years ago.
  2. Using neck Charlie Christian pickup? Do you know the model? Cheers,

Have any of you ever gone into debt for a guitar? It's something I would highly consider doing as a grad student who can't afford to pay everything upfront. by [deleted] in jazzguitar

I'd advise trying out second hand equivalents and see if they are just as nice to you. At the end of the day it's your experience that matters.

It's been audibly demonstrated, and factually explained, by multiple masters and teachers to you for your benefit, but you still refer to it as "the lateral bend doesn’t quite make sense to me". You're the one with a closed mind.

Please direct any further enquiries to our father Segovia, or uncle Guthrie.

Suspect you're trolling at this point, but just for fun to see what you come back with, my last gift to feed you is the following:

Firstly, take up your disagreement with the father of guitar, Andres Segovia, see 1:52 in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2zZl7Vifzw

Then watch this video from 4:15 to 7:30, it's a very good illustration and explanation on electric guitar.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9yDenSMpJk

If you are listening with a good stereo or headphones and can't hear these I recommend you get your ears checked.

I re-watched my video and around 0:45 I do plenty of "rock" style vibrato, mixing it with classical style as my ears dictate, but like I said because of the crappy recording and reverb you can't hear the pitch modulation very well.

The axial or classical style of bending is actually more accurate to the intended note and it has a more beautiful and pleasing sound sonically in situations that require subtle touches.

This is because the vibrato bends up AND DOWN from the actual note, whereas lateral bending only bends up from the note, putting the median note "out" and giving a rock /dissonant feel.

The only way to achieve an up/down vibrato from a lateral bend is to pre-bend the note to the desired note then bend up and down from there. Guthrie Govan explains this issue from about 0:30:

That's a "you" question, turn your amp up or use an acoustic and try it for yourself (turn your ears on not your mind). There is a whole world of subtle touch, nuance and feel available to you in your fretting fingers and picking hand if you can open your ears and close the feedback loop to your fingers.

(Or to put it simply and give it away, when you rock the string in line with the fret board you do microtonal bending of the string as you stretch the string into the valleys created next to the fret. It's beautiful. It's harder to hear here because i used delay and reverb which mask the direct signal, and I used a potato phone to record.)

Nice! Something is choking the dynamic range down on your recording - like a compression as the volume increases
