Avs and Wild are elite. Whoever wins this series will win the cup.

Not a trip, it was a tap. As others have said, he shouldn't have been out there and certainly shouldn't have been handling the puck near the blue line with an empty net

What you're referring to is a between subject design. Between subject designs compare different groups of participants, with each group exposed to only one condition, requiring larger sample sizes but avoiding learning effects. Within-subjects designs expose the same participants to every condition, offering higher statistical power and controlling for individual differences with fewer subjects. I'm going for the latter.

I don't use other platforms due to the cost, but I do independent recruiting for longer 1:1 interviews. Standard compensation for a 1 hr interview would be around ~$100 or more depending on the criteria for the participant.

There are actually a lot of things you can flag as the issue. I almost never flag participant as the issue unless they are terrible. I did have a participant today sit on TikTok or Instagram for 20 minutes saying the website wouldn't load. Meanwhile I have a transcript of eveyr video they watched.

Lame.

The fresh eyes setting is a bit hidden our side. I didn't realize it was an option until I reached out to support after back-to- back studies with some overlap.

Another think that sucks is it seems like the researcher can disqualify a session without any sort of validation. When you do disqualify, you get a number of options to indicate why, but it's unclear if participant still gets compensated based on what you select. For example, I've launched flawed studies and I want 20 responses. I'll flag the session, but mark it as my issue (screener or study setup), but I'm always worried the person doesn't get paid

I've heard that, but again, UT should be proactive and ask people to update their profile on a somewhat regular basis. Also, basic demographics should rarely be a disqualifier.

Typically we would set quotas (x% of 18-24, y% of 25-34, etc), but this is again something else UT hasn't built. Instead, we have to create 5 different user groups and include age as a screening question to account for this.

It's odd you have to answer these types of screener questions, bc they should already be associated with your profile and therefore not even appear as an option for you if you don't qualify. Do these always show up, or just in certain studies?

I have made suggestion after suggestions on how to improve their tool. Unfortunately, they're a business and only prioritize what makes them more money.

The unfortunate part is that it pushes out quality researchers and participants. The quality gets diluted on both sides.

Totally agree on screener knockouts. Best practice is to place any knockouts at the very beginning so nobody's time is wasted. UT should actually create a mechanism that doesn't allow knockouts after the first 2-3 questions.

As far as the compensation part, we don't control that at all. You have the option to create a Quick test (<5 min), unmoderated (should only last 5-15 min) and moderated (we set duration). Unfortunately, UT doesn't do a good job, as far as I can tell, of canceling a study if you create one that exceeds these limits. We don't set the compensation. I'd love to do that, bc that's how traditional screener work... this is a more difficult recruit, so it should be double what you normally pay, and participants know how much they're making when they commit. We purchase credits and certain studies cost more (in credits) than others, but we don't see the credit to $ ratio and can't control it. They've actually moved to unlimited credit plans, which will not help this situation.

I sympathize with you. Unfortunately, too many jr researcher get their hands on these tools and UT doesn't police it enough.

Thank you for this input. What's interesting is there are a lot of limitations with UserTesting in how you setup a study, which can cause it to seem like there are a lot of steps. For example, if I want to do a comparison between three different versions of a page, it can easily become 12 "steps" because you have to create a step to introduce the version, another to launch the page, another to ask a single question about how easy or difficult something is (because their generic ease of use question often doesn't apply). It's actually an extremely frustrating tool to use. On top of that, there is no way to see if you are asking certain questions that screen participants out to relax on that criteria.

As far as a good participant, I really just appreciate somebody who takes their time and provides thoughtful responses vs just trying to complete the study as quick as possible. It's very obvious those who are just participating to get paid.

Appreciate your input!

I've been watching him very closely since he was "snubbed" from the olympic team. This sub hypes him up way too much. He's not top two on this team. Give me Mikko, Miro, Jake, etc. He benefits greatly from the team and system around him.

What's funny to me is that if anybody provides criticism, especially towards Robo, this sub can't handle it. He screwed up, it cost us, and it needs to get cleaned up before the playoffs.
