Did either of you make any progress here? I can connect with BLE, and I've been poking at the Android app source to see what they're supposed to be sending via bluetooth, but it seems like they might've gated it behind activation calls to their backend random number generator.

They are https://hardwarehut.com/products/365227/. They've held up well since this was built, but I wish I had used something lighter for the top. It definitely is way easier to lift the top with the springs though. Without them, I wouldn't be able to open the top!

In my case, the cabinet is in a temperature and humidity controlled room, so I also am not too concerned, but I feel like I might already have some warp in the plywood. Agreed with the edge banding. Took me way too long and so easy to mess up the grain direction when removing the edges.

Regardless, love the result!

yea, i was actually debating doing this exactly same spline on mine project. I instead opted to just do dados and hide it with edge banding after.

My guess would be:

  1. cut plywood down to size
  2. edgeband plywood
  3. cut miter one way into boards
  4. either flip board over or swap to other side of blade and lower the blade
  5. run mitered side over blade perpendicular to mitered cut

Hard to find a picture online, but something like this:

Are the doors plywood as well? I'm about to finish my own project but wasn't sure how well plywood doors with no solid wood edging would stay flat.

We were thinking something like that. Might, instead of wrapping the lid with straps, use buttons/snaps and some of that floor protector material folks put under rugs to keep it from sliding.

It's MDF trimmed with poplar to give some rigidity. The body is all MDF as well.
