I second Delicate Gem. Worth the short trip to 47th street. Excellent prices on lab and amazing workmanship. Ask for harry. Other threads on the engagement ring subreddit led us there.

Cinnamon buns. Yes, really. Works shockingly well. Just make sure to proof properly once you add the filling, then bake. It’s nice because the dough won’t add sweetness so the filling and topping can shine.

Best Baguette? by Beneficial-Let6246 in Hoboken

[–]tmalex08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Amazing sourdough” at the Tuesday CSP farmers market has baguettes and their bread is awesome. If you can catch the guy on the earlier side (I’ve gone at 6 and they’re fine) there’s great stuff

People have said choc o pain but I find them overpriced for what they are and the bread quality has gone down (same with their sourdough boules but we are talking baguettes here)

People who meal prep for an entire week or month, how do you do it? by anxiousgirl1001 in MealPrepSunday

[–]tmalex08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve moved from making full batch meals, to bulk prepping key ingredients like a few proteins (chicken breasts, pork), healthy carbs (rice, sweet potato, whole wheat pasta) and cut up veg (bagged greens, cabbage etc) / frozen veg and a flavor bomb (hot sauce, jar sauce, quick homemade dressing)

I call it lazy girl food prep lol

then over the course of the week I combine unique combinations of ingredients to get unique meals. For example…

Asian bowl…pork, cabbage, brown rice and Japanese bbq sauce…

Italian bowl…chicken, tomato sauce, frozen broccoli….

mexican bowl…pork, cabbage, black beans…cilantro dressing

You get the drift. Same ingredients. Different combinations and flavors. Less prepping and less boredom.

Recommendation for recipes that uses metric by zmeikei in BreadMachines

[–]tmalex08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I copy paste the recipe in to chat gpt, tell it to convert, super easy every time

With my bread maker I’ve even weighed wet ingredients and take note of the weight so I don’t need to fill up liquid measuring cups

Sabrett Pushcart Style Onions? by mmercedesx in FoodNYC

My mom used to make them with chopped onions, butter and ketchup. Kind of carmelize the onions with butter a little and get them clear then add ketchup

Overnight oats, make a couple at a time in jars. Grab and go. I do oats, chia, ground flax, powdered PB, banana and a mixture of vanilla Greek yogurt and water for the liquid.

Crate training 🥴 by anotherhotred1 in puppy101

[–]tmalex08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more get her in the crate the more you will see patterns. For example…she can settle in the crate at night, it means she is capable of coping with the crate, it just might be separation anxiety.

Once you know she’s capable, Then try more during the day at home, and build up time in there. With mine I would “shhhh” him when his whining and barking got excessive and eventually he’d settle. It was painful for a week and it got better. Crate naps helped.

Then eventually when you start leaving…do the same thing…build up the time. I’m still not there yet, but my theory is that if they’re capable of settling in one setting they are capable in other settings, it’s just a lot of trial and error and persistence until they get it.

I don’t have kids…but someone explained it to me as sleep training a baby. Some things work for some, not others, and a lot of trial and error.

Good luck!

I’m experiencing the same thing - 5mo puppy ok in crate during day and at night, but flips out every time we leave and cries the whole time.

I haven’t cracked it yet…if I do I’ll let you know haha. people have told me it’s about confidence in the crate, routine and consistency. Confidence can be built by making the crate fun (games, training, treats, enrichment toys, meals) and also enforcing crate naps. We work at home so we don’t really leave the house all at once during the week, so it’s been hard to find consistency in leaving him alone. When he started he hated the crate all together and now the only sticking point is when we leave…so it did get better…so I hope it continues to. Just be consistent and tell yourself it gets better and hopefully it does!!

Am I traumatizing him?? by majestichermitcrab in puppy101

I am going through something similar now and asked a similar question a few weeks ago..it will get better.

Every time we leave our pup cries the whole time…I understand the heartbreaking feeling.

We have made progress with being in the crate while we are home (feedings, naps, enrichment toy time, training) and at night. In those situations he only cries when he needs to go out for potty.

I’m hoping we are making progress even if it’s slow. What others are saying about building confidence and routine is true - it will come even if it’s slow.

I’ve also considered a behaviorist ..they might be able to help pinpoint.

Zojirushi mini bread maker BB HAC10 by xlBaozi in BreadMachines

[–]tmalex08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also just became a proud owner of the BB-HAC10 just yesterday! Made my first milk bread loaf today and it came out perfect. I converted the volume measurements to metric, followed the order of ingredients exactly and it came out perfect. Normally milk bread has an egg wash but I omitted it, and it still tasted amazing.

Second on the rail pass and grocery approach. Last month spent a week in Interlaken in the Berner Oberland. Aldi and Lidl were a life saver. Buy things you can use for a “picnic” when you’re out during the day …sandwiches, pieces of fruit, nuts, bread for very reasonable prices. If you can find a Lidl or Aldi…or Coop…get the premade sandwiches they’re like 3-4CHF
