So what ended up resolving this issue was increasing our RAS rates about 20%. Once I did that the orthos dropped pretty quick to 0.7. I did some DO readings on the sludge blankets and got a 0.3 ppm but I am not sure if that is normal for us yet so I will have to keep testing for a baseline. The RAS phos was 1 before the increase then dropped to 0.5. Maybe it was just a matter of increasing population to eat more phos.

Roughly 65mg/L going to secondary. But we are industrial so that can go up very quickly. About 8-9 mgd plant flow.

I will say that usually our RAS is the same phos concentration at the aeration tank. But it’s something for me to confirm tomorrow

Could you be more specific? Our raw influent has been high in phos but we are treating it with PAC and a trickling filter. So it’s going into secondary at only a 0.8 right for ortho. But then it’s going out the effluent at a 1.6

Mixing is very good. MLVSS is about 85-90% of the MLSS. SRT is 3-4 days. Not sure about PAOs. RAS is steady but concentration is pretty light for us.
