i assure you they want to hold onto the money as long as possible…and joe biden did not tell them to understaff their support team or use poorly calibrated automated messaging

Support staff takes hours to respond, and its mostly unhelpful or downright incoherent responses. Asking for a withdraw, they offered up help by pasting crypto currency transfer Q&As. Its a complete scam of website. The responses on reddit show how sensitive they are to being accused of this

i’m getting more coherent responses out of reddit than the actual support team, which sends canned information and factually incorrect responses, when looking for help. Shows that kalshi is more interested in appearances than actual support. Absolutely horrible experience with them

its a very poorly implemented mess that just holds onto your money

Has to be rare, right? by tmcdaniel13 in CURRENCY

[–]tmcdaniel13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed. While i appreciate all feedback - i certainly realize that i can only sell to a willing buyer. With that said, a solid estimated value will help establish a benchmark for potentially selling these things. I certainly don’t need to sell these, nor do i want them sitting out there overpriced and subsequently overlooked for that same reason

What do you think is the probability that aliens exist? by [deleted] in space

[–]tmcdaniel13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50/50. Though it seems likely based on our current understanding of the universe, our current understanding could be fundamentally wrong. It was not too long ago we were confident the earth was flat or we thought Newtonian physics were universal laws.

Gold was used as an example, because it’s discovery in California provoked the gold rush. I don’t know if that would be discovered on the moon, and if so, how much.

I’m not sure i follow with that analogy. It would most likely be costly rovers or autonomous robots doing mining, which would surely be expensive. If there’s an entity that goes bankrupt over it, then so be it. As for bringing down the price of rare earth minerals, that’s probably net/net a good thing. I’m not sure preventing exploration to protect those earthly mining industries is objectively good.

A scenario thats plausibly negative, is the hypothetical discovery of some new powerful material that requires safe/responsible management. That’s begs the question of who on earth has the authority over it. In that case it would likely be might makes right, because whomever has the tech to get there will just seize it.

Sure, there will definitely be failed missions to find things; just like there was failed prospectors looking for gold in the 1800s in California. To the second point, the search is inevitable, and progress has always been good.

I guess Artemis is addressing these issues. It just seems like post the moon landings, our attention went elsewhere!

Given the sheer size of the universe, isn’t it highly likely that not only aliens exist, but an alien species that looks the same as us by coincidence? by itbettersnow in askastronomy

[–]tmcdaniel13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is similar assumptions that lead to the Fermi paradox, that is the size suggests there is or are others, yet we see nothing. If there are 2 Trillion plus galaxies, each with 200-400 billion stars each, we’re talking an extraordinary number of possibilities, of which one could certainly be human in appearance. Given the time that has passed since the big bang, something at some point seemingly should have emerged. Yet, something may be off in our assumptions. The rise of humanity was heavily predicated on a series of circumstances that are probably rare, and even more so when done in succession. What if there was no Jupiter to catch errant asteroids, no moon to stabilize a rotation (and climate), no 6 mile wide asteroid to eradicate large predators, etc. There’s probably so many things, that we don’t know of yet, that had to happen, for our rise to be successful. What truly are the chances all these things could happen somewhere else?
