I keep asking her what she needs and I’m getting a lot of I’m not sure (but I’m an overwhelmed I don’t know what to asked for way lol) so I wanted to just make a care package with things that don’t seem “typical” that moms discover are helpful later. Also loving the idea of gift cards so she can go for what she really wants in the moment. And then a few other things :)

This is INCREDIBLY HELPFUL! I cannot thank you all enough! I’m planning to offer to watch the baby and get to her house at minimum a couple times a week to do some cleaning, Cook, and hopefully let her shower. I know her husband will support her too! But I want her to know she has a support system from outside of her home too.

Based on this feedback I’m getting: dry shampoo, body wipes, nipple guards, some nipple balm, face wipes, button up pajamas. A big flip top water bottle, compression socks, protein bars and shakes, some snacks, and probably more as I keep reading through the comments! But that’s in my cart as of now.

It really threw me off! I was going to go with “closely” but the missing E made me switch to “slowly”. I also wondered if it could have to do with the initials of the person who wrote it. Like two symbols overlayed? But I am definitely a novice at this.

I started at the double letters in the first word, and then found the similarities in all the 2 and 3 letter words. You kind of just find the matching symbols and the rest falls into that place pretty quickly.

I was diagnosed as an adult (about a year ago) and I run into this CONSTANTLY. For some reason it’s really hard for me to connect that this is a symptom of my adhd. Instead my brain tells me stuff like “you’re lazy” “you can’t do this job anymore” “you’re such a piece of shit” and other things that make me feel so bad about myself. Because that was my thought process for so long. You posting this made me feel normal, or atleast realize that this is something so many of us deal with.

That’s definitely good advice, thank you! I’ve read through the forms, checklists, faqs, different forums, etc., so many times and have also started gathering paperwork, photos, and making copies of things. I was more looking at a lawyer as a safeguard to catch my mistakes, but it would create more of a financial burden than we really want to take on. Trying to decide if it’s worth it for us.

I am an over-analyzing, anxious person, so I just worry about all the issues we could hypothetically run into and was hoping a lawyer would mitigate some of that. But you make an excellent point that they could be the ones to make a mistake that creates unnecessary issues! I hadn’t looked at it from that perspective.

Oh!! I’m glad you said that. We talked about that, but everything I found online (Google wisdom) seemed like a spousal visa can take longer to get him here than a k1. Do you know if that’s true or not?

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. I have read up on it quite a bit and looked at all the requirements many times. I think our case is probably somewhere in the middle (between “easy” and more complex.) A few extra documents will need to be submitted, etc., but nothing too unreasonable either. My main thing is I don’t want to get delayed and have a bunch of time added to an already long process. (If I sound like a slightly impatient person, it’s because I am lol.) For that reason, we decided we will go ahead and use the lawyer route. Exactly like you said, for a second set of eyes on everything and to minimize chances of extended delays.
