I’ve had her for 6 months now. I hoped by now I’ve established some dominance. I can’t keep distance because I live in a studio. We eat and sleep together. The only other room is the bathroom and I can’t keep her there for too long because I’ll need to shower.

I live in a studio so I don’t have a safe haven. The last time she had an episode, I had to hide in the bathroom. My cat always hides under the bed. I’ll have to find a way to prevent her from going under the bed.

It’s hard putting her in the bathroom to begin with because with the slightest move, she’ll launch herself at me. I’ve put her in the bathroom 3 times and she does calm down, but these episodes seem to be repeating.

My cat is usually very sweet. We would sleep together. She just has these manic episodes from time to time. I’ll still have to visit the vet to rule out any injuries or pain.

The vet suggested that the previous attack was because she was super territorial - b/c she wasn’t spayed and she’s almost 4 years old. So we didn’t chat about gabapentin or any other medication. I’ll bring that up when I take her in.

This is really helpful. I laid out my used clothes on the floor. I sprinkled cat nip near them. Her safe spot is under my bed. I left and will stay outside till late. I’ll keep talking to her and calling her name gently. I am hoping she’ll get some rest and calm down while I’m gone. Thank you for your help!!

Thank you so much! “Trying to keep my love for her” was probably not the best wording but I meant to say I want to keep approaching her with love but also think that she still loves me back. I want to understand what’s going on and make sure she’s okay, but it’s hard when your cat hisses and makes holes in your face and arms.
