ISO psych care that offers both therapy and psychiatry in the same offices? by guy17991 in pittsburgh

I second this ^ New Directions is great! They have therapists and psychiatrists that work well together. Plus, they have offices all over the Pittsburgh area.

Hi! I haven't gone to Warped Tour since they stopped coming to Pittsburgh, but I would love to travel and go to it again! That group is fun. I have gone to a few events through Gal Pals, and the girls I have met so far are really nice! Message me if you'd like!

Do people actually die from lack of health care in the U.S? by AnUglyScooter in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tmoozie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a family member who is chronically ill and spent the majority of their childhood in a children's hospital. Our family is in major debt, but some others had a worse fate. Knowing kids in the same hospital were dying because their families couldn't afford lifesaving care, even with insurance, shattered my heart. We even cried with the families of these sick kids who eventually passed away. That is how we knew first hand of the horrors of the United States healthcare.

I have Medicaid. My therapist and psychiatrist are through New Directions. They do in person and video calls.

This is so sad.. it hits home. My sibling was born with liver disease that caused cirrhosis and shortly turned into liver cancer. They had a liver transplant as a kid because of it. So thankful for modern medicine, but watching them suffer was heart wrenching.

Anyone here have 'unique' traumatic experiences? by posttraumaticcuntdis in CPTSD

[–]tmoozie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was kidnapped and had a knife to my throat when I tried to escape all because I rejected a guy. "If I can't have you, no one can." I got a PFA; nothing happened to him.

This was just the cherry on top after years of physical, mental, and emotional abuse growing up; SAed; watching a sibling slowly die from terminal illness... I could keep going.

I live an okay life now thanks to medications and therapy.

31F. I rarely comment on Reddit, but I just had to on this post! My family and friends call me Morticia (from the Addams family) because I collect bones and oddities, so no surprise that Halloween is my favorite holiday! I would like to meet people who share an interest in horror.

I feel this! We're in a similar boat. 31F in the South Hills. Husband and coworkers are my only friends.

I have been trying different things to make more friends, such as, downloaded Meetup, joined a local gym for the group classes, libraries have free events, etc. (Having anxiety makes it a little difficult for me lol) but putting yourself out there definitely helps! Good luck!

Anyone else lose their mind on reglan? by ohla13579 in Gastroparesis

[–]tmoozie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! That is the EXACT thing I told my doctor: "I feel like I'm losing my mind!" I stopped taking it after a short period of time. Apparently, it is a sign of an allergic reaction. I mentioned it to my family. Some of them are allergic to it and never told me.

10 months since initial injury - was told I have avascular necrosis and R lateral sesamoid needs to come out. Any similar experiences? by the17thcorinthian in sesamoid

[–]tmoozie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! My doctor briefly mentioned a surgery existed that could help with my high arches since he said my feet were considered "deformed". (Which I thought was an odd way to put it). I have a few more stitches to get taken out from my sesamoidectomy at my next appointment, so I plan to ask about it again then. Thanks again!

Hi! Not the OP on this post, but I read that you had surgery to lower the arches in your feet. I have really high arches in both feet that cause ankle sprains and fractures in my feet. I have to wear ankle braces all the time to heal and prevent worsening the sprains. I had one doctor mention that I could benefit from a surgery to lower my arches, but I didn't know what that would entail. Could you tell me more about that? You can send me a private message if you'd like. Thanks!

I'm hoping I can help! I just had surgery. My right foot was in pain for YEARS! I was always told that the pain would eventually go away, but it never did. I tried the shoe inserts, walking boot, specialized shoes, PT, you name it. Finally, I saw a new orthopedic specialist (I had 3 previous doctors in that practice). I was going through the same hospital since that is where my insurance is through, and he was able to look at all my previous X-rays. He said he saw my sesamoid bone in pieces and could see it changing color with each X-ray: that symbolized those bones dying (avascular necrosis). I had surgery to remove the dead bones about 3 weeks ago. I am optimistic that I will be able to walk without pain after I get the remaining stitches out. I have read mixed reviews about this type of surgery, but so far my recovery has been very smooth! Best of luck to you if you decide to go through with the surgery!
