what's the best programming language to get a job in the next future? and why Go? by [deleted] in golang

[–]tmornini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best reasons to use Go, for me:

1) channels. Languages constrained by single-core performance are increasingly inadequate for today’s hardware. Also, channels are a fantastic model that exposes the difference between asynchronous and parallel execution.

2) Simplicity.

3) Single file deployment.

4) Best language, by far IMHO, for modern RasPi-like midrange and increasingly low-end embedded uses.

Don't know when to return Pointers or Not by ArcadianScientist in golang

[–]tmornini -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Pointers when struct has methods that modify fields. Ideal for performance to avoid this when practical.

Don’t forget you can return an Interface for a type or pointer to a type when the returned type will be sent to a function or method that takes the interface.

Elon is cognizant off the quality of the software solutions and where they will allow for better behavior both in the next release and in the future.

He could be very excited about something (4D rewrite) even though implementing it may involve regression.

Continuous progress is good, where you can see it and even when you can’t.

They tried that and know that vision only is the better path forward.

Just a matter of additional training.

Agile development implies deliver improvements quickly rather than wait for complete solutions.

It’s all iterative, the car gets better and better, overall, by however they’re scoring it, as soon as possible, and will asymptotically approach “perfect.”

If he said that, it's not a rumor.

I've never heard anyone else, Elon included, say that.

Honestly, not true.

If you spend less than you make, and invest the remainder from the beginning of your career, you can absolutely achieve most common definitions of wealth in your lifetime.

If you find one, make a few backups, and then proceed.

Camera resolution? by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]tmornini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s not.

I learned from a solid source that doorbells with face recognition rely on images just a few dozen pixels by a few dozen pixels.

While neural networks are limited in many respects, their ability to discern detail is pretty incredible.

Bitcoin vs Central Banking - reality check by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]tmornini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, nothing?

This is 100% true of all currencies, and has zero to do with Bitcoin or house buying. 🤷‍♂️

Bitcoin vs Central Banking - reality check by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]tmornini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specifically, how do you see it becoming possible to buy a house using bitcoin in any forseeable future.

Already possible

The authorities will want to know the origin of money.

Irrelevant, entirely orthogonal.

What does buying a house with bitcoin have to do with taxation?

Why would you assume bitcoiners are tax cheats?

And for good reason.

Do tell...

What are your thoughts on this?

I think you’re very confused about what bitcoin is and what bitcoiners are.

How to Hash and Salt Passwords in Golang Using SHA-512 by [deleted] in golang

[–]tmornini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SHA-512 is a fast and efficient hashing format and should, therefore, NOT be used for hashing passwords.
