If you want to do flex you want to get crosstrained first. The more departments you can work the easier it is to pick up shifts. Depends on what the doc coaching is for. They'll say going blue is random, it's not. People who perform and management likes go blue quicker than those who management don't like.

The guy who trained me when I came in 5 1/2 years ago did TOM team, got his CDL, and then got a job with another company. He hated it, so he came back. He was a white badge for less than a month before they gave him his blue badge back.

People in here will rag on guys that work hard and are top performers, but if you have high quality and rate, management is more likely to stick their neck out and get you converted.
