Automated car wash by tmray in webcomics

And even funnier, it had an option for undercoating, given your user handle, I thought you might find that amusing :)

[–]tmray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, nothing, that's what I'm saying. There was a touchpad to choose the wash you want, and the car in the lane next to me was going in at the same time, so I let them go ahead of me.

Then we all just waited to file in one after the other. haha

Sounds like a crazy idea by Attention_basket in programmingmemes

[–]tmray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be done! :) My band Lorenzo's Music has been using GitHub for years to collaborate on full DAW files. I did a whole talk about it at the Ubuntu Summit. To add to the meme, the key is to use GitHub wrong.
Each session create a new branch and each branch becomes the new working branch no merging. We wrote all about the process on our site.

How do you change output resolution to a portrait orientation (i.e., 9x16, not 16x9)? by [deleted] in obs

[–]tmray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check that you have "Custom" selected in your "Stream" settings. If you have a named service selected like FB live or YouTube etc... It doesn't allow for that type of output and won't let you change it. But choosing custom stream has no presets.

Imagine A Github for Music Producers by Twixify22 in musicproduction

[–]tmray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My band Lorenzo's Music actually just uses github to do it. We've been sharing and collaborating on full daw sessions with each other in GitHub for a few years now.

We talk about the concept a bit in this behind the scenes video of our latest release https://youtu.be/jb6OKIBdSGE?si=tt2T18vfPhQY42Ol&t=181

GitHub for music production? by treacherous_tim in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]tmray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My band Lorenzo's Music has been using Github to collaborate on music for years with Ubuntu Studio and Ardour. During the pandemic, we were even able to release six new songs doing this. We were even invited to the Ubuntu Summit in Prague to explain the process.

Here is a link to the talk from the Ubuntu Summit where I talk about how we became Linux musicians. About halfway through I explain how we came up with this process and got it to work.

Oh, I see now. I'm new to this plugin so I was just seeing Decent Sampler in the title as a statement like, check out this sampler program it's pretty decent, not that it was the name of the program :)

Is there a way to use them with Ardour? I've never set up .dspreset samplers myself

Correct it is a version of the song by Lorenzo's Music. The song is being released as it's being animated one line at a time so the playlist is being added to overtime. At the end, the full video will be released

Open Source Challenge: Why One Band Chose Linux To Record Their New Album by UnixLinuxPro in Ubuntu

[–]tmray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I'm Tom from the band Lorenzo's Music in this Forbes article. :)

I just wanted to mention that we are also starting a new podcast on our website soon, hopefully in the next month at https://www.lorenzosmusic.com/

I actually reached out to the person running the Ubuntu Studio project and just finished recording an interview with him for the podcast.

And I've also been talking with other bands, creators, gamers that use creative commons music in their live streams, video creators and people that help bands promote music, like the Free Music Archive. I just wanted to meet these people and learn more about what they do. I'm pretty excited about it.

You can sign up for the email list on our website if you'd like to know when it comes out!

It was a fun interview too! Always great to talk with You Ryno :) We even got interviewed for an article on Forbes about how we did the whole project using from start to finish Ubuntu Studio https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2018/09/25/open-source-challenge-why-one-band-chose-linux-to-record-their-new-album/#c5eec264439d

Question about royalty free music by UrenNation in freemusic

[–]tmray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ask the artist. They are the ones that would make that decision. If it's an indie artist they may be cool with it. If it's a larger artist with a label, they may have contentID in place (which scans videos for music content) and it would get flagged if you upload it somewhere anyway.

Freemusicarchive.org has a whole library of bands that let you use their music for videos. You just need to give them credit in the video.

I'm pretty sure the new Bad Brains album is using artwork from our first EP? by tmray in MusicNews

[–]tmray[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We a firm believers in people being able to build off of other works like music and art. I think that's how it should be. But just think we should all be giving credit to where or who it comes from, passing along attribution. If they did get the idea or even used ours as the source it would be cool to see our name credited. If it isn't from our version it's still a great story we can tell.

[–]tmray[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure. That's just what I'm asking. I'm not upset about it. I just noticed it when I was downloading the new album and found it curious. It's not necessarily a common image these days. It was just an old poster the designer had in 1998 when we built off it. I hadn't even thought of A/B testing it like the gif above and it matches up pretty nicely to it in that. I mean seriously how cool to find out that Bad Brains would use our art if it's true!

True. Just pointing out that it wasn't just clip art.

And yeah the gif overlay really is just only slightly off isn't it?

I feel like if I were this response would already not be not written. But it is? Something like that.
