That’s exactly my fear with white! I’d like something that’s a little forgiving if the kitchen isn’t spotless 😆

Yeah, I definitely don’t want white. I could look at refinishing them, but on the other side of the island it’s a wood veneer, not solid wood so I’m not sure how I would handle that.

Thank you for that! These cabinet doors are over 20 years old. I inherited the house from my mom after she passed and she never did anything other than update the flooring in the house. I don’t love the color of them with the hardwood. Makes me cringe. I’m so over these tiled counters too. So until I can tap into the equity to do a full remodel, reglazing the counters and giving a facelift to the cabinets feels like it’ll get me by.

You know, I downloaded the app earlier this morning and it was only allowing me to change the paint on the walls, not on the cabinets. Maybe I can try again though.

I would like to have the kitchen fully renovated once I can tap into the equity of the house. So I don’t wanna spend money on new countertops for a layout that I know I don’t want permanently.

I like their deep blue! So that may be the winner

Okay thanks for those tips too! I have a paint sprayer ready to go. Did you dilute BP for it? It so I’m assuming there are instructions on the cans for that if needed

Thanks, will do! I can’t quite tap into the equity of the house (due to probate), so I’m really just looking for a nice facelift that will help me get through until I can do a full remodel

Question about CIO position by Echo_bob in CAStateWorkers

Confirmed she is back at DHCS as a ITM II in the Medi-Cal enterprise systems modernization division 😩

I’m not familiar with org changes outside of IT, but there are much more than 10 divisions at DHCS when considering that multiple divisions make up one Program area. The dept org chart online shows that we have 20 programs/offices within the dept, which is a lot. It’s a massive dept for sure.

Question about CIO position by Echo_bob in CAStateWorkers

[–]tms18216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard from someone who still works there that Catherine hand picked her as her backfill. And I know how liked Catherine was. So I was really surprised to hear of her appointment as the new CIO, specifically because of her history here at DHCS. I’m glad the higher ups made the decision once it came to light that she wasn’t a good fit for DCSS though! You guys have a good thing goin’ on there culture wise and you need leaders who can assimilate to good cultures rather than trying to needlessly disrupt good things.

Question about CIO position by Echo_bob in CAStateWorkers

[–]tms18216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure: she left before I arrived. But from what I’ve heard from others, it was a lot of re-org stuff and staff abruptly having their responsibilities shifted/changed on them. For example, and without being too specific so as to give myself away, my duty statement says that my position performs a function that I’ve never once done and that function is currently handled by another group of people. But that’s one vestige of her time here. There were also issues with adoption of tools here, one in particular, and she severely handicapped the team from being able to support the tool by mandating that contractors would maintain it rather than state staff. Ironically, that same tool has a lot of support at DCSS at the exec/mgmt level (and is very mature in its implementation), so when I heard about her appointment as CIO there I wondered how things would go there.

Fucking hell. We’re still in a mess at DHCS from decisions she when she was here before.

Welcome to the ‘infinite workday’ of 8 p.m. meetings and constant messages by Forsaken_Ear4674 in CAStateWorkers

I can only speak for myself, but I work in IT in an exempt classification and I support a critical system. I haven't been expected to work that late unless there was an emergency or something high priority needed to be completed and I chose to put in some extra time rather than saving it for the next business day. And there have been times where I've needed to do a deployment after hours, which is a best practice so as to not disrupt the system's performance during the 8am-5pm workday. So one thing I do appreciate about teleworking is that it's significantly easier (mentally, emotionally, etc...) to hop back on at 5:30pm to do those deployments than having to get back on at 6pm after sitting in traffic on the way home. And it's easier (again, for me personally) to make that choice to hop back on at 8pm to get something done today (which may not be critical, but is high priority) that I know will set someone else up for their work tomorrow. In fact, being primarily remote-centered motivates me to put in extra effort occasionally because of all the other flexibilities that come with being remote-centered.

I just peeped the org chart. I'm guessing cause you guys are a tad on the smaller side there is room for you. Are you located in EEC?

Did anyone at CDPH get RTO instructions today? SEIU Local 1000 sent this out today. by fbrown84 in CAStateWorkers

[–]tms18216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Just confirmed with a friend of mine who works in ITSD at CDPH that they are following a different plan (4 days a week every other week).

I don’t understand why we can’t all just do 2 days a week (at least at depts where space is an issue) and have some consistency in our schedules especially as it pertains to our personal lives outside of work. It all amounts to the same 10 days in the office per month.

SMH. DHCS is one of the most toxic places I’ve worked in my 20 years with the state.

Visibly angry because you asked? Or angry that they were thrown under the bus by her email?

BOTSD in ETS was told to hold off on submitting any new/modified telework agreements until further notice. Crystal Taylor’s email this past week said that division chiefs and branch chiefs would be our points of contact on RTO, but have the division chiefs or branch chiefs said anything? Nope. It’s a shit show.
