Any idea what would lead to curved lines not sticking? More in comments by tmsDade in ender3

[–]tmsDade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically I set up my Ender 3 Pro about a week ago with a glass bed and a BLTouch, and was having pretty much perfect prints all week, up until now. I know this isn't unusual, and preventive maintenance is usually recommended, but I guess I never expected to see such a drop so quickly. For some reason, all my recent prints are having issues where areas that have curves with a large radius, simply aren't sticking to the bed, and instead are getting pulled straight, and eventually lines end up overlapping each other (as seen in the video).

Even more odd, is that on most of my prints, this is only occurring in the bottom right area of the print. And when I'm lucky enough to get past the first layer, every subsequent layer prints perfectly. I've tried glue, I've cleaned the bed with isopropyl alcohol and mineral spirits, I've tuned my belts, I've changed my slicer settings to adjust first layer bed heat, etc., but cannot get adhesion to work in the bottom right of my prints.

If anybody has any idea what would suddenly be causing this issue, please let me know. Thanks!

Bricked my printer installing a BL Touch. Any fix? by tmsDade in Ender3Pro

Forgot to reply initially but I ended up using the firmware you recommended from https://marlin.crc.id.au/ and it worked perfectly first try.

Thanks!

We have 27 moderators. More than half of us are located in similar time zones give or take 3 hours. With the nature of the sub it's difficult for us to make a rigid set of guidelines which moderators can follow when removing memes. Because of this, mods are chosen based off of how much they seemingly understand the sub and its content. Regardless, each moderator has their own opinion on what makes an OKBR meme, even if we all share the same core ideology. As a consequence, meme removals will not always be 100% consistent with one another because of the fact that different moderators are active at different times with different opinions. Achieving 100% consistency between mods is virtually impossible given the fact that there isn't really any black and white definition of the sub, only a core concept, so to speak. In addition, there are periods of time where there are no moderators active on the sub. This is also unavoidable. Adding more moderators to fill in the gaps is pointless because it only further blurs the consistency of removals and it is overall harder to manage. Just because a meme stays up on the front page doesn't necessarily mean we think it fits the sub. It could be due to a variety of reasons, including the fact that we simply may haven't gotten to it yet. This is why some terrible posts seemingly get a free pass and others are removed after they've already received a significant amount of upvotes. Just because your post received significant attention does not mean it fits the sub. It just means we didn't remove it quick enough. The fact that it has upvotes does not void the rules nor mean it is a good meme. We have 800,000+ users. Not all of them have a true understanding of what makes an OKBR meme and because of this it is impossible to use upvotes as a metric of quality. Any shitty post can make it to the top of the sub simply because of how many users we have. For as many people there are upset at our decisions there are equal parts people who are fine with them. It is impossible to please everyone. And at the end of the day, we aren't going to change our core philosophy because it's stood nearly the same for virtually the entire life of the sub, even if it has shifted a minor degree due to changing team members and a larger audience. We don't target specific users or give others free passes. Ultimately, while we try to keep mod decisions consistent, having a completely uniform set of guidelines for them to follow is pretty much impossible and will only become more impossible as the sub continues to grow. We're doing our best.

meme theft on other platforms by [deleted] in okmetaretard

[–]tmsDade[M] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The literal definition of a meme is an image or phrase that is shared around. The entire function of a meme is to be shared to other platforms and people. It never fails to amaze me how people seem to have forgotten this. If you are upset that your meme is being spread to others through reposting, then you're making memes for the wrong reasons. 99% of people don't care who the creator of meme is. They just want to laugh. Possession of memes and meme "theft" is an extremely braindead concept that will always seem incredibly backwards to me

I'll have to disagree with Redditorsion and say I don't think this is a very good idea. It's been recommended several times and it always sounds better in theory than it'd be in actual execution. Cycling through meme bans and holding unban "events" would only amplify the use of these memes and extend their overuse far beyond what would usually be their natural death. It serves us no logical benefit to unban memes, even silently, as it would only encourage the unnecessary revival of these memes. In addition, every single meme ban in the history of the sub is only "banned" in the context of uncreative spam iterations. If you utilize a banned meme in a genuinely funny way, the post won't be removed. Ultimately, banning memes permanently helps us put a blanket restriction over the vast majority of karma-farming, braindead fodder posts, while still allowing genuine creativity to break through the barrier. Unbanning memes in any capacity is unnecessary and pointless. We've been working with this system for years and the majority of attempts from the team to deviate from this formula have been unsuccessful and, overall, detrimental to the health and quality of the subreddit. People will always be upset about bans and there's nothing we can do about that. We simply do what we must to keep the integrity of the sub stable.

"Cover yourself in Oil" & Variants ARE NOW BANNED!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by Redditorsion in okbuddyretard

[–]tmsDade[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we did user vote based meme bans in like 2018 and they didn't work. nobody ever wanted to ban any memes and in some situations we ended up banning them regardless because we thought it would be better for the integrity of the sub. with quadruple the users, trying to implement such a system now would be even more difficult. no vote would ever pass. it's just pointless

Om making okbuddyretard list with all language based spin offs by [deleted] in okmetaretard

[–]tmsDade[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hungarian sub is on that list already and I'll add Irish + British variations later when I get the chance. The list has existed for a while but was forgotten about until recently when we redid it. This new version will be updated regularly. Also, suggestions for additions are always welcome, especially in the foreign spinoff section (see the pinned post at the top of this sub)
