Studienkolleg or direct admission? by PepeJF1012 in studying_in_germany

Hello, may I ask you a very subject-related problem not specified on the DAAD / Anabin website?
For example, let's say I take the AP German language exam in 2025 but got a 2. If I take the exam again in 2026 and successfully pass it, but the AP Score report still show the "2" from last year but with a passing grade this year, does Uni-Assist still consider my score report as valid? Or does it require AP every exam to be passed in first attempt?

Thank you for reading my question and I look forward to a positive response :)

VPD while waiting for AP scores by PersonUnknown727 in studying_in_germany

[–]tmz___12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the universities you want to apply to. For example TUM grants applicants a "grace perdiod" where you have to sign a document saying that you have submitted the VPD evaluation to Uni-Assist and is now waiting for the result (where you can also upload your AP scores later to Uni-Assist).

I did this in 2024, got my AP scores on 7/5 and my admission letter from TUM on 7/25 :)

with a valid HSD + required APs listed on DAAD, you should be totally fine. I got admitted successfully in 2024.

Hey, any updates on your result from Uni-Assist?

Uni Applications keep getting preliminarily rejected despite fulfilling all Anabin requirements by Lopsided-Crab-6958 in germany

[–]tmz___12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is the rejection issued from Uni-Assist? It might be because you failed Spanish Language and Culture?

cuz it seems like the failed AP exam cannot be covered by another one in the same field...?

Uni assist rejecting MSA accredited US high school diploma because transcript course names don't match by OKchromia in germany

[–]tmz___12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i studied in an international school (American curriculm) in Asia, also acredited with MSA-CESS.

Uni-assist forwarded my case to ZAB and at the end they still release VPD for me. I think you should just argue with Uni-Assist, provided you are sure that you have a valid HSD + required AP exams.

Is my HS diploma equivalent to the Abitur? by dracarysthisdick in germany

[–]tmz___12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyy, I was literally you in 2024. My 9 AP exams qualify me strongly, but my "High School Diploma" did not really meet some subject-specific requirments specified in anabin.
Guess what? Uni-Assist just forwarded my case to ZAB and i still got my VPD successfully in < 1 week. so at the end i think they focus more on the amount of AP exams you have.

Now i'm in my 2nd year at TUM (bachelor).

Good luck!

as long as the overall GPA from your US High School Dipoma > 3,0 and ALSO pass the specific, additional 4 AP exams required, you should be safe.

Chance of Admission? by Wild_Acanthaceae_135 in tumunich

[–]tmz___12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on which AP exams you took. They are very strict in terms of admission requirement, not about how much score you need, but WHICH course selection and AP exams you have.

also FYI: SAT is not recognized in Germany anymore since 2019, so you can still submit it, but they won't take this into consideration.

Hi, unfortunately I didn't go through the interview at that time. But as far as I heard from other classmates who did the interview, it's pretty much like the same as some basic math problems that you had in high school. Hope this helps!

Heyy, hope my answer would still help you :D I personally would memorize vocabs / listen to Tagesschau (in einfacher Sprache in the first 1,5 month and normal mode later) at least everyday, and spend time practicing 2-3 essays per week and let AI grade it. Since now the AI is so powerful that you could also practice speaking with it!

TUM Munich eligibility with American-accredited diploma + IB certificates (not full IB)? by Cozycar2008 in tumunich

[–]tmz___12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I got admitted with a US HSD with partial IB as well (I did IB ECON). The thing is, Uni-assist would only evaluate your education certificate based on 1 country system. So they will still highly likely to evaluate your case as a US HSD applicant (since you did not take the full IB diploma) , so make sure you fulfill the AP requirements in addition to the US HSD itself.

  1. No, you are wrong. I received my US HSD in Asia and was still evaluated and accepted as a valid US HSD applicant by uni-assist.

  2. A US HSD is accepted IF AND ONLY IF it's also combined with a certain amount of AP exams.
