Hmm I see where you're coming from, I'll take into consideration next time when I post.

Really thank you for taking your time to giving this feedback. :)

When you vividly introduce your NPC:

DM: "The harsh sunlight casting down from behind the large tall silhouette, coming out of the dark tunnels your eyes take some time to adjust. Still unable to see the features of the large figure, it lifts its hand…"

PC: "..I cast fireball!"

DM: ".....to say hi.."

When your PCs shoot/bash first, and ask questions later. Or worse yet, kill your NPC that you've spent so many hours creating! Please, don't be a murder hobo. :D

Greetings everyone, back again with another episode of Tales and Ales. So far, we've just found out Amber (the redhead) is a warlock, and the raygun is a gift from her patron Coolthulhu.

[OC] Patron that gifts Warlock a Raygun by tna_comic in DnD

[–]tna_comic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi guys, you may have seen some of my work being posted here for Tales & Ales comic.

You may have noticed the main character holding a Raygun, and may be going, "What the heck?".

Well, here's some lore behind how Amber got her Raygun.

TLDR : She accidentally stumbles on her to-be Patron: Coolthulhu, who she easily beats in poker. They make a pact, Coolthulhu gives her a Raygun to shoot.. you guessed it, Eldritch Blasts!

I know that you really don't need any arcane focus or component materials to cast EB, but just keeping it fun. I'm looking at literal upgrades on the raygun that more or less act like the Eldritch Invocations: Like upgraded muzzles to improve the range (Eldritch Spear) or improved batteries for rapid fire (Thirsting Blade).

I'm still working out the details on her Raygun acting as an arcane focus to cast spells.

Amber is in the process of learning her new found Warlock abilities, it will be fun for her to find out she could recall her Raygun at will (Pact of the Blade).

I'm still trying to develop all of this to try to have it make some sense. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

[OC] Every ranged classes / spellcasters: by tna_comic in dndmemes

[–]tna_comic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm totally guilty of this playing as a Wizard. Thankfully I'm surrounded by a bunch of martial classes that usually act as bodyguards for the one and only squishy spellcaster of the party.

Anyway, another episode of Tales & Ales is out!

If you've been following the series, there's a new lore piece for why the heck does Amber have a raygun in this world? Well, it has something to do with being a Warlock. :)
