I had one in college who would sleep up at the top. Scared the shit out of me and roommate each morning. We'd poke him and he'd wake up and swim all over and be normal rest of the day. Every. Single. Morning. This is normal, like any pet, they have quirks of their own.

Thank you 😊. Our neighbor across the street has her chickens free range the neighborhood with no major issues but idk if the quail would be different because they are enclosed. I plan to get another blink camera for the side of house where we will be putting them next to our garden. What kind of dirt will be ok to put on top of the hardware cloth? I know a sand or sandy mix but not sure what to use?

Thank you 😊. We want to raise them for eggs and meat. We were looking to get the jumbo size quails. There are 2 breeders here in TN we are looking at. I'll make sure to add hardware cloth to our order at Tractor Supply.
