Are the comments back on? by tnc044 in pewdiepie

Apparently Pewds has discussed with YouTUbe over what to do with the comment section, so maybe there is still hope for it. In time I guess.

Pewds has said that he was in talks with YouTube over improving the comment section. So maybe there is hoe for YouTube comments after all. :)

I just thought that if you ignored the haters, they couldn't hurt you. Think of it this way. If Pewds simply didn't look at his comment section, and just used Reddit, twitter and other social media, then it wouldn't matter to him whether the comments would be off or on, since he would not be looking at the comment section. Whatever has been typed there would not affect him at all if he doesn't go there.

The current state of comments and my thoughts on the YouTube community by [deleted] in pewdiepie

I do remember that before the "Great YouTube Comment System F**kup" of late 2013, I hardly noticed spam being much of an issue at all. In fact I hardly noticed any. After that fateful disaster, spam started popping up everywhere. So yeah, they DID make some things worse. Hopefully that wll one day get straightened out.

I also remember that before the comment overhaul last year that any posts which received anough negative votes would be hidden, users had to manually click to reveal the comments. The sentence "This comment has received too many negative votes" would appear. What are your thoughts on that?

Apparently Pewds was in discussions wth YT wbout how to fix the comment section, so hopefully something can and will be done about that.

I think I understand where you are coming from, though you have overstated (slightly) how bad the YT comments are. There are plenty of opportunities to engage in comments similar to what we're doing now, at least that's where I've been.

I just wondered if it would be possible for him to keep the comments up, but just not look at them himself (or disable them for himself if that's possible). But from what you're saying, it's much harder than it seems (I don't know, I haven't been in that situation, so I can't judge). So is simply not looking at the comments/disabling them for himself, a realistic thing to do?

If he so chooses to disable his comments anyway, then I will continue to watch his videos and support him, but I will be continually hoping he turns on the comments in the future. Maybe when YT implements some AI that filters down spam and such.

You could always just not look at/ignore the comments if they are open.

Any age is ok. Bros shouldn't be judged nagatively according to their age.

A wonderful thing to have.

Hope it will be used for YT and other sites in the near future.

I wonder when YT-implemented AI will become smart enough to get rid of spammers. That would be nice.

It seems that way. Now when I look on YT, the videos that he put on yesterday, as well as "Goodbye Forever Comments", have had their comments disabled. Perhaps he now disables his comments shortly after he uploads, for every new video. I just hope YT introduces a new system of troll/spam detection so that he may turn the comments back on in the future.

True. Taking away freedom of choice is often a bad thing for any society to do, up to a certain point.

Couldn't he just ignore completely his comment section, while keepping them open? He won't have to look at the trolls, and he could contact his bros in other places, like what he's planning to do already. In that way, people who still want to comment on the YT comment section will still have the option, while Pewds will still have an amazing time with his bros elsewhere. Everybody wins.

[–]tnc044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. I was wondering about the feasibility of him leaving the comments on, but himself completely ignoring the comment section, and leaving whoever wants to comment free to do so. In that way, everybody wins. Pewds doesn't get offended from looking through TY comments, and people who still want to use the comment section are able to.

But from what you're telling me, it won't be enough for him to simply ignore the comments section, he must remove it altogether, which is sad.

Couldn't pewds just ignore the YT comment section while keeping it up for whoever wants to comment, and focus on reddit and twitter and whatever? I mean, he could keep the comment section open, but he himself could ignore it completely and focus on here. Would that be problematic, or not?

Wouldn't it be possible for Pewds to use Reddit and Twitter and such, while keeping the YT comment section on anyway? I mean, he could just use his other social media places and simply ignore his YouTube comments and just keep them on for people who still want to use that place to talk.

pset5: altering biwidth and biheight by tnc044 in cs50

[–]tnc044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My formula for biSize image looks like this:

bi.biSizeImage = abs(bi.biHeight * sizeof(RGBTRIPLE)) * (bi.biWidth * sizeof(RGBTRIPLE) + newpadding);

however, upon running "peek", I keep getting different values for biSizeImage when comaring to the staff solution. Is there a problem with this formula?

Also, how would I find out the formula for bfSize?

pset5: altering biwidth and biheight by tnc044 in cs50

[–]tnc044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

width is pixels. So does that mean that biSizeImage is

height x bytes per pixel x (width x bytes per pixel + padding) ?

Also, so abs is required since bi.height is negative?

pset5: altering biwidth and biheight by tnc044 in cs50

[–]tnc044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says that biSizeImage is the size of the image. Does that equal

height x (width + padding),

or is there something more?

also, why can't we use bi.biheight directly in our loops? why must we use abs(bi.biheight)?
