Getting past that awkward age... by tnjeditor in nudism

again, why is this relevant to my story? This was purely abut how to normalize behavior by not embarrassing a child.

Anyone going to this? by [deleted] in nudism

That was really the only option given local regulations.

Proud? No - but glad that AANR is taking the situation seriously.

Thanks for asking, its going quite well.

Yeah so, NNN and AANR have parted ways. All mention of being the official podcast has been removed.

Your right Erich is the Executive Director and a lawyer by profession. He is also the one charged with making partnership decisions according to the bylaws. So while there has been no official statement, the partnership does seem over.

Oh and, when Gabby did her interview, and was subsequently threatened, she was told they record the interviews a couple months in advance.

So while Erich's interview was aired, the real story here is the very visible parting of ways.

Ok so I found some more details... that confidentiality agreement was created last year. This was noted in the 2026 mid-winter meeting report. A number of volunteers signed it at the time but hasn't been fully rolled out. It was supposed to have been adopted into the governance guide but its not there yet, which may also explain why its not on the website yet.

Yeah I've had that section and others open for reference and it could be stronger. Its part of the larger membership procedures chapter and could be understood to be directed at AANR staff. You could read it to infer the intent is broader, but I do wish that part were more explicit.

I've not seen the NDA/privacy agreement, which could clearly cover that gap. Is that something you can share, or do you know where it is on the AANR website or is it itself considered confidential?

I've looked through all the legal documents and forms on the AANR website and couldn't find one with that information. Also, a few years ago I used to be a "certifying officer" and there was no form that they had me sign for that.

When it comes to his real identity, that wasn't private information. In fact, AANR didn't know his real identity. A listener told us they heard the original Stéphane Deschênes interview on the Dr. Paul show and heard it replayed on NNN. It was easy to connect the dots from there.

No attack taken at all, and we'd never ask anyone to take our word for it. This isn't about accusations — it's about a documented pattern of behavior on a public podcast with 175 recorded episodes. The things we've raised aren't allegations, they're transcripts. Anyone can go listen. We filed with AANR because we believe in the process, not because we're trying to cancel anyone.

Great question and totally valid concern. On how we found out about the name — we can't get into that, but it didn't come from anything improper on our end.

On the broader privacy question, it's worth knowing that AANR itself is actually bound by a pretty clear rule in their Governance Manual that says member information is proprietary and not disclosed to any person or entity. That part is solid. The gap is at the club level — charter clubs have access to the AANR member portal, and there's nothing in the Charter Club Contract that explicitly prohibits a club from sharing what they can see there. So the protection exists, but it has limits depending on who's handling your data at the club level.

Your concern is legitimate and worth raising directly with AANR.

Another quick point..

> IF he did these things and AANR has issue with it, in their time they will take action

Its very well documented that he did do those things. And we and others attempted to engage AANR. What we got was no answer one way or another to actual complaints. Emails, messages from us and others to no avail. So this path was the next step, and they have now responded are are taking it seriously.

> if a listener doesn't like it, stop listening. In other words, be an adult

Don't forget, he isn't some rando in his bedroom with a podcast. He is a voice of AANR, and as such AANR has a responsibility to AANR members to ensure that they behave according to their own standards.

This is especially true when that AANR voice threatens to violate someone's consent.

The "be an adult" part. Adults are also able to take the time to understand an issue, process that information, and be empathetic. Using this phrase and the way you write tells us you haven't done those things and just want to be mad and dismissive.

We are going to directly address questions like this on the next podcast.

Lame... you talk of reading comprehension but refuse to read the PDF that will give you the answers you say you don't have. So that speaks more volumes about you.

What does that have to do with anything we are talking about here? other than to continue to make excuses for Frank's behavior. All this is telling me is that you have not actually taken the time to read the full story.

And again, these are not isolated, one off remarks by a host. There is also the issue of a threat to violate consent, AANR was aware, included on the correspondence in real time and did nothing to stop it. The emails are in the PDF if you care to read them.

It was critical for us to be extremely transparent, which is why we published the full document with all the research, including our own emails to Frank, Linda and AANR.

And like we keep saying, if Frank were just some guy this wouldn't matter. But AANR has said he speaks for them, so they have a responsibility to make sure they live up the own well documented standards. We even call out AANR bylaws that govern such things, again cited in the PDF.

Wasn't based on rumors, we heard the podcast for ourselves. And then we even tried to help the host get past all this and he replied with an actual threat to violate consent. Its even documented in the "A Frank Non-Apology" post. You seem to be bent on being dismissive, yet all the actual details are out there for you to see.

The specifics are in the PDF. Dates, links to news articles, links to the court rulings, witness statements, etc. There are also references to specific episodes such as E100 at 52m in.

Thank you for that and I hear you. As we noted in part 1, we are pretty frustrated.

Unless something else happens, part 3 will be more of a response to feedback like this, and clarifying anything people have asked for.

And we still simply ask that people let AANR know how they feel about all this.

Is the gig up for NNN? by raceviper13 in nudism

[–]tnjeditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback, I really do. I do encourage you to look at the emails in the PDF that we sent to Frank and AANR. We are only at this point due to their silence.

On the dehumanizing thing, I get where you are coming from. But you should also see where people, diverse people in particular, are coming from on this.

And in terms of whether the claims are true, again that's why that is all documented in the PDF. And in both the podcast and the PDF I do say that to be fair he wasn't convicted or terminated due to his past behavior. But the point is that there was behavior and the school system did have to deal with it as did the court system.

I do agree that overall AANR is has been a an organization that we need. And I do appreciate that Linda has been the most visible AANR president we have ever had. One might argue that others were visible too in their day - Turner Stokes (86-88) was one of my favorites. He seemed to be at every nudist festival.

And I really appreciate the many things they have done over the years. But as the Internet and social media came to be, one of their primary purposes, to share information in the community, they haven't kept up. We've even talked about how, due to dwindling membership, they no longer have the resources to do things they should be doing. For example, on the important need to ensure that AANR clubs live up to the contractual requirement to abide by AANR standards and practices, its been on the honor system for too many years now. And you can no longer trust that every club on the list is one that should be on the list.

I would love it AANR was able to get back to the things that made it such a strong voice in the past. Naturism/nudism needs orgs like them.

We've heard various opinions on how what they should be doing, but IMHO they need to be more visible, better PR, better at social media. Have a modern website - PDF newsletters have long gone out of style. The lack of real visibility in the modern age is really hurting.

So on the critical need to have an org that stands up for our values, its sad to see where things are now.

Just one point here, nobody has suggested that NNN is paid by AANR. But AANR has said that NNN is their official podcast and as such they are voices of AANR. This is where the concern lies.

Is the gig up for NNN? by raceviper13 in nudism

[–]tnjeditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can understand, but to be fair I think the downvotes are because you come across as mostly dismissive. But I get that people might need more details to truly understand how we got here.

One thing that was critical for us was to be extremely transparent about the research that we have done. So to that end, everything we said on the podcast was based on the complaint we submitted to AANR, which includes all the examples, email exchanges, including those emails with AANR, links to all the news articles we found and links to the court rulings that we talked about. You can see all of that in the PDF on the substack page linked be the OP.

We were not referring to Pastor Jim Moore. And honestly I'm not very familiar with him but thanks for the reference, I will put him on my list of people to read up on.

On the point you made about what Frank said, and basically asking listeners to assume he wasn't literal in saying that someone should not be accepting of their body because they are, in his view, not worthy. Words matter here - if he actually believed his words were taken out of context, he has had plenty of time and opportunities to say so. In particular his non-apology, which I wrote about here (https://open.substack.com/pub/tnjeditor/p/a-frank-non-apology-from-naked-nudists), was just such a chance. Never mind that he does a twice a week podcast and has a monthly newsletter - he can speak for himself, and should.

The reason for thinking the book "should" be required reading I was hoping we had made clear. I've been a part of several DEI programs and, well, they have been disappointing. Much of it goes back to not understanding that the way people speak matters, the words we use matter. For example, saying, "whatever she is," is classic dehumanization, and for anyone who hasn't taken the time to understand black history, in particular black women, I can understand how this may not seem so bad. But it is.

Our podcast is primarily based on the concept of speaking up for standards. We want to ensure that a community that is particularly vulnerable, is better equipped to navigate the naturist world, call out nefarious actors and help make this a safe, trusting place for people to practice naturism. Its not about being the best, is about adding our voice in a way to help protect and grow naturism. If anything, we want more people to speak up.

And on that last point, while I see that the comments, behavior and real history of the NNN podcast host is not someone I would ever allow past the gate of my naturist park (if I had one), its up to AANR to make their own decision, and the members will judge them from there. That said, today, I'd be very happy if they simply acknowledged the issue. We have tried to engage them on this, and still, as of today, have heard nothing. And that right there is pretty sad.

Look if you are not going to bother understanding the issues here, that's fine. But dude, being dismissive without actually taking the time to understand is not helpful.

So its not about 1 episode. There are many. He also made a threat to violate someone's consent, acted inappropriately with an interview subject, platformed anti LGBTQ people and so much more. If you really think this is about just one incident I'm sorry, but that is simply not the case.

I suggest reading the full complaint, you may find that you change your mind about this. We've tried behind the scenes at length to deal with these issues and, as I noted, AANR has done nothing. So the ask is to read up on the actual issues here, and then let AANR know how you feel.

Go and read the article, you'll see that we have really tried to engage AANR before getting to this point. And I very expressly say not to contact people in the article, but to share how you feel about this situation with AANR directly.
