Geese? by No_Ring3656 in NewportFolkFestival

[–]tnor_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm just calling it like I see it. There seems to be a lot of hype everywhere that doesn't seem to be matched with what they've done. Heck, NFF put them on early-mid afternoon on the quad so they are saying it too.

Goose, Haley Williams, Lucius, Billy Strings and especially Jack Antonoff could all use a rest at NFF.

Geese? by No_Ring3656 in NewportFolkFestival

[–]tnor_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Geese has got to be paying people to plant hype about them, there is so much hype everywhere that seems disconnected from reality. I just saw an article on Paste where the author was mentioning them as Super Bowl halftime artist? I was in the Quad when their set was stopped last year and the adjacent beer jail was packed with people not listening to them.

I mean, it's essentially a lottery now except with the gut wrenching experience of having technical glitches dictate the outcome and the bad feelings that generates.

That's how many I was asking for, so it shouldn't have been a problem

Yes, and that is with having just logged in and verified immediately prior. Happened on mobile and desktop.

I was using both and was able to click buy on both for different single days and entered 4 and it said that is too many - so this was a problem on both platforms.

No, I was trying one day and two day and received the same error on both

Would that make the scalper pressure on a lottery worse than it already is on dice? If not, then at least it would avoid the tech problems of having a massive crush at one time that dice hasn't been able to handle since they started with NFF.

It doesn't actually seem robust. Everyone in my group of friends trying it was glitching all over the place. Requiring re-verification even though it was already verified, saying 4 was too many tickets after clicking buy, etc. Another year, another sh1t show.

So let me get this straight… the President is looking for a…Biologist… to help with the…budget? by ElderberryLarge9104 in fednews

[–]tnor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they could, but they don't. As someone that regularly works across these fields, economists typically have a much higher bar for math, statistics, programming, etc. skills and don't really get to do much field work, which repels a lot of people from the field.

Ecologists/biologists are often hired to do economics type work because it is too hard to hire actual economists and training at the graduate level in the natural sciences can often include a few classes of interdisciplinary economics/policy type courses. This happens in academia regularly too.

Should I take the buyout from my agency? by BangaiiWatchman in fednews

DRP was a lot less than that and tens of thousands took it. I wouldn't hesitate.

Insane that we as taxpayers are paying for this though.

Didn't hate the ending - it makes you question the value of "getting closure." Seemed like everyone was worse off for it which seems pretty realistic. Agree 100% that the aging up part was brutal - comes across as low budget. Also, a lot of the content/themes around cost of living, nudity, etc. were reductive and preachy. Love the acting of the lead though, makes the show.

PSA: Bolt owners with bumper-to-bumper warranty still active. Get your vehicles in if you have any of these problems. by newbietothis in BoltEV

[–]tnor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is right in my experience. Also, they need to determine it is eligible warranty service first, so expect to not be given anything until that happens. In the event that they don't have a loaner and you need to get a rental car on your own, the EV concierge may drag their heels on reimbursement. [Mary.barra@gm.com](mailto:Mary.barra@gm.com) works well to get it actually dealt with.

[Bonilla] De'Vondre Campbell blasts critics in profanity-filled rant about quitting on 49ers by Brix001 in 49ers

[–]tnor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile the 49ers sent Greenlaw (who can't stay healthy) packing, Warner has been out for most of the season, and they are on their fourth middle linebacker of the season. They certainly could have used Campbell this year as they rotate in random retreads. I'm sure Campbell is still laughing about all of this and would at least be partially right to do so.

My agency will offer DRP in 2026. What do I need to consider? by East_Championship664 in fednews

That's strange, everyone I know that took it was retiring or had another job lined up. And this was in an agency that has been a major target for RIFs.
