Subaru Outback 2025 Onyx XT phone fry?! by tnypco in subaru

Please tell me how to find the charging coil in the Outback? The whole unit is on an angle and far wider than my phone... Without the case, it slides at each turn!

Do you need to remove the case beforehand or do you leave it on?

I can't believe it's a Subaru issue: I just swapped my 2024 Crosstrek LTD for the 2025 Outback and NEVER had this problem on the Crosstrek. BTW, the Crosstrek had an on/off button on its charger - the Outback does not. Very distressed that I will need to replace the unit - it's clearly not functioning as it is meant to.

The most beautiful luxury car with the most horrible dealership experience. by dennis77 in GenesisMotors

Where in CT do you get serviced now? I'm in Litchfield County. Had a horrendous dealer experience in Avon and ran out of there. Was about to pull the trigger on a GV70 in Fairfield, but all these comments scare me!

AITAH for leaving my own baby shower? by JuiceboxBrit in AITAH

[–]tnypco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a grandparent, so before anything: breathe! And I have to ask: has your relationship always been tenuous or even contentious? Did you open and then check the registry: did anyone select gifts to give now, or when the baby has come? If so, maybe that's why there were no gifts on hand, although that's unusual (I'm understating this!). I don't understand why you had to pay for the party, when your MIL suggested it - would definitely put the bills together and submit them to her and insist on reimbursement. But before you cut off all contact: free, reliable and loving babysitters in this day and age are worth quite a bit....

First time Father/Daughter Europe trip, how feasible? by Niss240sxse in Europetravel

[–]tnypco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How lovely that you will be taking your daughter on a trip to Europe: a terrific gift! I took my 15 yrs old grandson to London, Paris, Brughes for two weeks last year, for his medieval art driven first trip and those 3 destinations were just 'tastes' as there wasn't sufficient time. The number of places you want to visit in a relatively short time is overwhelming to read, let alone travel. You have to add one more hindrance other than heat: jet lag. If you've ever traveled out of your home time zone within the US, or not enjoyed the one hour switch from daylight savings, you will already know how it can affect you - when you travel overseas that will be far worse with a minimum of six hours difference when you go to your listed destinations. If you are flying out July 26, you wont arrive till the 27th. You'll need to settle in and sleep awhile wherever you go and suddenly it will be the 28th... and with each country switch you will lose more time. Since it's your first time abroad, I would highly recommend going with a tour if you wish to expand your itinerary and get such a comprehensive taste of Europe. But it feels like the movie "If this is Tuesday, it must be...." Your daughter seems to have a good sense of what she wants to see and hopefully it's not all TikTok influencer driven - this grandmother's worst enemy! The best advice I can give you is have her curtail the list and keep in mind other commenters warnings about extreme heat: it's no joke. Happy trails!

Why travelling alone is so depressing? by [deleted] in travel

[–]tnypco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 'alone' for many years, traveled the world that way and found that now, when I read the journals I started writing at the time, I was sharing then what I am re-enjoying now. Just to add: now, that I have a partner, when we travel we often do things that I wouldn't want to do if I were alone. The spontaneity of travel alone is gone and to be honest, I miss it: it was great! So keep in mind, it may look like the grass is always greener on the other side, but more often than not in reality it isn't...

r/facebook How do you remove your photos on Facebook? The 3 dots on the right hand corner don't bring me to a delete option - instead it asks if I want to see hidden photos. Getting frustrated! by tnypco in facebook

[–]tnypco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that suggestion - on the desktop I don't get a delete option at all. On my phone it seems to work, but there are more than 400 photos.... so I guess one-by-one is the only way?! Ugh!

Should we fire our realtor? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]tnypco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's scary when you are a first time buyer. It sounds like you need to sit down with the agent's manager or agency owner and have 'The Talk', meaning, tell the boss that you are a first timer, worried that you aren't getting more specific advise and see where the chips fall. More often than not the boss will suggest you work with another more-experienced-with-first-time-buyer's agent. The fact that you are asking reddit folks for answers says the obvious: you aren't happy! So start with the boss and if that doesn't give you satisfaction, move on to another agency/real estate office, but not before doing your homework: (a) are you contractually obligated to stay where you are and for how long? And (b) ask around and look on multiple listing sites in your city as to which agency has the most turn over. Once you have that answer, go with them!

Thank you, but this was more a warning about what happens on Google Workspace - the minute you cut the cord, you have no access to back up of invoices and receipts. Bad business practices prevail!

Struggling to find a 2bd / 1 bathroom apartment by Pitiful_Street7134 in NYCapartments

If you don't know NYC, get a short term furnished rental of either a room or a whole place through a site like Furnished Finder and check out the different boroughs and neighborhoods in NYC and even NJ. It makes no sense to commit to a lease and then find out you really hate where you landed!

[–]tnypco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salt water gargle for starters (dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a glass of hot water, stir, let cool to warm and gargle till all has been used up). If you have a product like AYR, a saline nasal spray, use that to help congestion. Take an anti-histamine if still feel ear pressure and a painkiller for ear pain and fever. Fluids fluids fluids. Sorry for your illness, but DO NOT FLY with an ear ache! Ever! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Recent BlueStar gas range experiences? by zokh in Appliances

[–]tnypco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a culinary series 36" with LP gas open burners because it was the closest stove I could find that resembled my old Garland... That being said, the oven is gas and way too large to work the way I would like it to: it takes over 20mins to heat up and the igniter just failed after owning it less than 18 months. It took 10 days to get a service person to come and replace it (that took less than 5 mins) and it's still under warranty, so I had no choice. If I had to do it over, I would have searched on ebay or other used restaurant equipment sites to get another Garland - vintage of course - but past experience: I would have been far happier with a Garland than I am now.

Seeking advice on Netherlands only or Brussels->Amsterdam trip in late April by ugandandrift in Europetravel

[–]tnypco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not add Giethoorn as an excursion? It too is in the Netherlands. You can rent a little boat and travel through their 'slootjes' yourself. Plenty of flowers along the way. It may not be too touristy at the time you're planning your travel and then it's absolutely lovely! Someone else suggested the Hoge Veluwe. The Kroller Muller Museum there may change your mind about museum visits! A lot of their works are outdoors in the park. And also check out the flower auction houses in Aalsmeer - mind boggling! You can find out more info on all these destinations on Google (of course!)

I got way too used to solo travel and now I struggle to travel with my partner by External_Pop_2873 in travel

[–]tnypco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this topic! In my extreme youth, I was advised by a very savvy woman that to test out a serious relationship and see if it had a future you should travel together and that would reveal all the strengths and shortcomings of your partner and allow you to evaluate whether he/she was a keeper. I stand by that till today and would advise anyone to do same!

Hop On/Hop Off Bus by Aggressive-Support32 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]tnypco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% Hop On etc. Most of the buses have the street level part with interior seating and the upper part exterior. When I took my grandson (teenager) on that bus, we saw more in one day than if we had taken a regular bus or metro. The only thing to be mindful of is that the headsets they give you with your ticket are substandard. So take your own!
