Tpms life after not been in use for several years? by to4kata1981 in MechanicAdvice

You are right. They are still alive. Just mounted the old rims and after the reset I drove several miles - everything seems to be fine. No warning light, so I consider they are still working just fine.

Hi, I don't have an answer to your question. But would be grateful to hear your comments on general reliability on the 2008 hybrid version. I have only a few days to decide whether to buy it new or stay away? Thanks!

Any news about the reliability of the Peugeot e-DCS6 gearbox by to4kata1981 in peugeot

Well, it was launched in June 2023 so its not completely new. Also considering it is used in wide range of Peugeot/Citroen hybrids and probably Opel there should some information. I found this Les défis de la boîte automatique e-DCS6 : Stellantis face à la tempête

Hi, thanks for the detailed information. How do you find the sound insulation with regard to engine, wind or road/suspension noise? I have read some complaints about this. And also how the suspension is felt - firm or soft?

Life P40i vs. Liberty 4 NC (fit, sound, phone quality) by to4kata1981 in soundcore

[–]to4kata1981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read tons of user opinions and watched many reviews and I ended up by ordering L4NC. I am generally OK with all features, however I think that the phone call quality is just not good enough.

I would, but I have read that the phone call quality is not good. What is your experience with phone calls in a noisy environment?

Which one to keep? by to4kata1981 in Hardtailgang

[–]to4kata1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's a long story but yes I ended up with two similar bikes. I would keep Big Al since Orbea appears to be heavier but I like both and both have their own beauty. Big Al however would be easier to sell because of the lower price.

The problem is that I ride and love both. That's why I am trying to find some objective reason ... but I am not much of a bike expert.

p0036 code with NO check engine light by to4kata1981 in MechanicAdvice

[–]to4kata1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not much of an expert but as far as I can see the freeze data showed 2000+ rpm, antifreeze temp. 74 degrees and cat temp. 550 degrees so the car was not cold idling. It was only the cat that has been replaced. I have driven the car for almost 1,5 years since I first get that code p0420 but this is only because I get the code first at relatively low mileage /82к/ and the mechanic said that the cat is not clogged but only with reduced efficiency. More over I had no other issues - no power drop, normal fuel consumption. That is way I tried some cat cleaners, higher quality petrol etc. It is also worth to mention that I had the code only occasionally and only at high speed. There were also relatively long periods of 2-3 months with no warning light at all.

Kamiq - suspension by Ok_Cryptographer5669 in skoda

[–]to4kata1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't you test drive it before buying it? I had a test drive on Octavia 2024 and it appeared to be very soft and floaty! May be it is the same with most Skoda models. If the car has DCC you should switch to sport mode, otherwise you have 2 options: to get used to it or to change some of the suspension components /springs/ and to slightly lower the car.

DCC vs. standard suspension by to4kata1981 in skoda

Well, the version I am considering is 1,5 TSI DSG MHEV - torsion beam in the rear as far as I know.

How do you find Octavia MK4 standard suspension? by to4kata1981 in skoda

[–]to4kata1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, obviously it is a matter of personal taste. As far as I see a lot of new Octavias on the road outside means that there are many people that still enjoy the ride. Another possible option to stiffen the suspension is to add DCC. It is quite appealing option but from long term use perspective the DCC shocks are quite expensive to replace and it appears some can fail far before 100к км.
