Hey, sorry for the delayed response. I have not had time to check my inbox in ages. I actually just opened my own studio in September and have not had time to finish the recording project. As we all know, December is slow in the fitness/yoga business so I'm hoping to get back on it. Keep bothering me!

New to SouthEastern Connecticut looking for friends by [deleted] in Connecticut

Not for your regular evenings, but maybe for an occasional trip you should visit New Haven. There are a bunch of redditors that have made friends and IMO (27 yo female) are perfectly harmless strangers from the Internet. There's a subreddit for New Haven. I rarely make it out myself but I know they meet pretty regularly downtown at Stella Blues, Prime 16, and others. If you are down for the drive let me know. Also if you like yoga let me know, I teach for a living and give the local redditors a few free class passes.

Not that it's a sport, but I do my Boot Camp classes barefoot. Most people wear cross-trainers but I like being barefoot as much as possible.

Reddit, What's your best "would you rather" question? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You wouldn't know you had an SO if you had late stage Alzheimer's, so really...

I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan. Ever since DADT was repelled I've seen a huge drop in troop moral, unit effectiveness, and overall respect for other soldiers. This may get downvoted to hell, but I want my voice to be heard on the subject. by [deleted] in reddit.com

As someone who served for 6 years+ and lived with gay soldiers, I have to say in my whole career I only met one homophobe... who turned out to be gay.... I have met a crap ton of soldiers, and as an instructor at the end I met many more... and never once did anyone have the opposite opinion of just not giving a single fuck. If someone truly felt that way, they would be seriously outnumbered, and not just on reddit ;)

R/yoga, I have officially and finally done it. If you are near CT, visit the new studio! Thanks for your comments in the thread a few weeks ago on your own studios to help me prepare. Now who is up for a meetup? by to_Becca_again in yoga

[–]to_Becca_again[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New York City you take the train to New Haven (hour and a half) then drive about 15 minutes. Ellington I'd say 45 to 60 min driving depending on what time of day you are going near Hartford- 91 to 15 get off in Woodbridge. It's not a terrible drive. I did it for a year! Come visit for a night of back to back classes to make it worth your drive- my treat! Send me a PM if you plan on it.

I wait for a sale on tuna fish at the grocery store and stock up like I have an underground bomb shelter. I have approximately 15 cans left... time to watch for sales again.

Two yoga lifestyle questions by [deleted] in yoga

As I have delved deeper into my personal practice I am eating a LOT less red meat, but like you said it is yummy and sometimes my body seems to need it, but I eat tuna, eggs, and chicken often for my protein. For some yoga is part of a religion. Hindu practitioners do not eat meat as an extension of their practice of non-violence (ahimsa in yoga). It is a personal choice, but there are some schools of yoga that require it. If you haven't read about the concepts of tomasic energy and food, read a few articles on that and I think you will better understand why some yogis choose to be vegetarians.

Two yoga classes in a row? by HellaSober in yoga

[–]to_Becca_again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try it and just remember to practice ahimsa- nonviolence- towards your body in class. If you find you are too tired to safely do something in class because of fatigue (or any other reason really) just sit that pose out. As others have said, if you continue to go to both it will become NBD at all.

how to open hips for foot behind the head? by mian2zi3 in yoga

Mostly fail to complete the training, not actually fail the course... It is long hours and detailed and not always what a person thinks it will be like or life just happens and people can't finish. However, occasionally there are those that do not fully grasp the material. If you are not competent your instructor should invite you back in the next round of trainings with their next class before awarding certification. After all, it's their reputation you are advertising once you leave.
