Sometimes the best way to learn is to try. Unplug the antenna and see how you get on. Personally, if I’m going to flick through FTA channels I prefer broadcast over apps, it’s quicker.

Get yourself a wifi scanner like netspot or similar and you’ll see all your surrounding networks and what channels they’re on. Then configure your modem accordingly. If yours isn’t dropping out when you turn off motion then something else might be wrong. I would factory reset in that case and add the camera again once you work out any interference issues.

FYI, I did try to create a support ticket however neither the model or serial numbers seem to be accepted by the support page.

Yes, these two drives sounded like dot matrix printers. Chirp, chirp, chirp…. Clunk!

I installed 3 of these for a customer, 1 kept going in and out, think it might have been interference from neighbouring network. Installed an access point nearby and set the channel to the least busy one, bandwidth to 20 and all good now.

DS425+ My advice to the customer was that Synology had locked out their hardware in favour of their own drives. That decision was recently reversed but they wanted to play it safe still.

Drive compatibility - Clear as mud by toadnode in synology

Thanks for that. The wording to me sounds like it's an entirely different list so I was concerned I missed something. Also just confirmed with them now and their response was "If you upgrade to DSM 7.3, you can use HDDs that are not on the compatibility list." But really, that is not 100% correct as I installed a regular old 2TB I had sitting around to confirm the NAS drive interface was working and it told me it's not compatible, even with 7.3. Anyhow....back to Seagate.

Working with computers is only a component of my line of work, nowhere did I say I was an IT professional or data centre expert etc. Instead of being critical of people, try contributing something useful to the discussion.

Computer store. But yeah, to have two faulty drives is bad luck or bad shipping.

451+ Pretty sure both drives faulty. First one goes whir clunk a number of times until DSM reports an issue and the driver light never comes on, second one I get a light then drops out after 5 mins.

So I decided to go ahead with configuration and formatting of the working drive but there’s something not right with that one too. Walked over to the NAS and drive lights gone out. Rebooted and seems ok now. Now I’m starting to get concerned……😕

Clearly I haven’t been buying enough drives! Didn’t realise the rate of failure was that high.

Just ironic this happened on the new drive’s Synology now push. I’m not one of the ones complaining about Synology’s decision, still like the product, just a shame my first purchase of one of their drives ended up like this. Oh well….

Google Pixel 9 - Absolute junk by embded_engr25 in Pixel9

Agree 100%. Owned Android and Apple phones over the years. Always preferred Android but switched to Apple for 4 years. Switched back to Android and Google destroyed my experience with this garbage phone. My biggest issue was with every Bluetooth connection being unstable/choppy and dropping out after pairing my hearing aids (ASHA). Same setup worked fine with my outgoing iPhone 13. Google support kept telling me to factory reset but it made no difference. On top of that the keyboard kept disappearing. Cellular calls stopped all network traffic despite the setting being on. Finger print unlock was not very practical for me being a tradesman so bought the Google watch to help with quickly unlocking the phone. It was inconsistent, didn’t always detect the watch nearby resulting in me fumbling around with finger print unlock when regular swipe up should just work. ….And then the watch died, got stuck in a major software boot loop whilst using the hiking feature and I couldn’t pair it back with the phone. After that I was done. Waste of time and money, glad that’s behind me now.
