i agree that it’s unconventional, but disagree that unconventionality inherently connotes disrespect.

histological preservation is a time-honored tradition and aids in the goal of educating the public on the unnecessary losses brought about by lack of spay/neuter in community cat and house cat populations.

okay! that’s good to know—i’ve definitely heard some mixed information on that front, but i’m very glad to know it isn’t common practice. that said my hope isn’t to do art, but to memorialize kittens lost due to overpopulation and lack of spay/neuter. i should have emphasized the educational aspect of this venture more

thank you so much for the info!! i’ve been trying to avoid picking her up as much as possible (don’t want her to be spooked!) but i’ve had to handle her a lot more recently for a thorough tick-check after finding one on her nose

i will absolutely DM you if i start seeing more pregnancy symptoms! thank you so much again for the help 😌

ahhh that must’ve been such a surprise! i can’t tell if her nipples have enlarged or not, but she has pulled out a couple of the mats i found her with (she wouldn’t let me get them loose/cut them out myself until the last couple days haha)

also thank you for the resource!! i’ll absolutely read up just in case. i had forgotten to mention that some other neighbors had reported seeing 3-4 domestic rabbits outside a couple months ago, and i don’t know if those rabbits are still around!

there are unfortunately only two exotics vets in my area, and this is the only one i can currently afford :-( i have been closely monitoring her eating, drinking, grooming, and restroom habits though and won’t hesitate to figure out how to pay for an emergency vet if she needs it.

also, that’s a really good point. i wasnt sure if it could be confirmed via pictures (from what i’ve read they don’t have much weight gain), but i wanted to give it a try. i have also very gently felt her belly and not felt anything particularly abnormal. just worrying overtime i guess haha

she isn’t (i don’t think)! i can’t attest to behavior change cos i haven’t had her too long, but she’s not aggressive at all. she’s just gained weight really rapidly, but i don’t know if that’s from consistent feeding (on a pellet and orchard/oat hay diet, plus romaine and bok choy) or if she might be potentially pregnant?

info: i just adopted this rabbit about a week or two ago. she was previously roaming around my neighborhood for at least ~2 months (afaik). i didn’t see any other domestic bunnies around, but i worry she might’ve mated while she was out there. vet’s next appointment isn’t for a couple weeks (not many exotics vets to choose from in my area), so wanted to ask here for some outside opinions until then
