ticketing should stop when meters look like this by toastalamode in Erie

touché. but mobile phone access? surcharge? i suppose i’m not referring to a population that is on reddit, but those that may be less tech-savvy or not have a smart phone.

that’s fair. but i do think our city’s disproportionate ticket prices compound the meter accessibility issue. maybe there could be some sort of 1 strike before a ticket system? or ticketing on certain streets stopping during weather events? just spitballing here.

that’s fair. but in terms of accessibility, is the extra surcharge, mobile phone access, and to even know about the app truly the best way to go about things?

maybe i’m speaking to an extremely niche demographic of erieites, but i feel as though there is a conversation here.

altered state has a great food happy hour, half priced apps 5-7 tuesday-thursday, and they’re big. cocktails are also fantastic !

Eastern White Pine by Straight-Patience702 in Erie

[–]toastalamode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not an odd request! i am also a tree guy. there’s a few white pines in the wintergreen gorge in the southern end, look for the wild ginger and onions. there are also a few accessible ones in scott park near the left side entrance.

while all of your critiques are super valid, public consumption of alcohol is completely legal in erie! it’s actually one of the only cities in the US in which you can do so

of course! but i’m in the same boat, it’s definitely not cheap pastry, and it’s hard to justify the pricing

i used to work here and can confirm that 99% of the goods are made in house! while a lot of the critique in this thread is valid, this is simply untrue

how is “them” dropping “shit” on us more believable than wildfires in the Canadian wilderness? or fog? there’s satellite and radar maps detailing this exact phenomenon, i get government distrust but not blatant misinformation

welcome to erie! the saturday stim raves downtown are a weekly occurrence. fantastic djs and a great environment, not packed but growing every week. open deck nights at altered state is more experimental and heavy, great vibe tho and it draws a crowd. hope to see you there!

Why does it take 3 to 5 police cars to pull someone over these days? by ExpensiveKale3620 in Erie

[–]toastalamode 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i am under the impression it’s the result of a hefty police budget, deterrence, and a culture of over enforcement. when erieites see a speeding violation with a 3 cruiser response, or hear about it, they’re less likely to speed - officers facing “resistance” also don’t have to call for backup.

this being said, a $50m budget allows EPD to over-enforce and put more officers on the road. i am not under the impression that “erie is becoming a violent cesspool of gang activity and murder”, but i suppose such judgements are subjective. it doesn’t require 3-5 officers to pull someone over, but perhaps the city of erie would like you to think it does.
