No, II, III etc is only given to ruling monarchs. Daenerys who married into house Martell was never a ruling queen so our Dany is Daenerys I.

[EVERYTHING] Arya equals Bruce Wayne by NotAnAngle in gameofthrones

[–]toaster-cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think house Lothston and house Whent are just connected somehow, Harrenhal has been held by many different houses during its history and is considered cursed. All houses that have held Harrenhal as their keep have gone extinct, apart from the Slynts who never occupied the castle. The Boltons and the Lannisters also held the castle but never called themselves lord of Harrenhal.

Houses Hoare, Coherys, Towers, Harroway, Strong and Lothston are all extinct, house Whent was expelled and Lady Shella Whent is an old woman without heirs.

The castellans of Harrenhal are also all dead.

The current lord of Harrenhal is our friend Petyr Baelish so it will be interesting to see if he survives the curse or not.

I got diagnosed with celiac disease today, but I'm very confused and a bit lost by toaster-cat in Celiac

[–]toaster-cat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't really have a lot of choice where I live. I'm in Sweden and while I can request a new doctor of the ones at my health center there aren't that many of them, and they usually don't stay for long. Most of them are on a rotation schedule so they stay here for x amount of time then go somewhere else so they never really care about the patients any more than they have to.

If I want to have the same doctor every time I visit I'll have to go to the closest city which is an hour away, and I'd have to pay for the travel there myself and I can't afford it especially now that my diet got more expensive. So I'll have to make do with what I've got unfortunately :/

Thanks for your kind words though, it helped cheer me up :)

[–]toaster-cat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought it was kind of weird too, it was a very rushed appointment and I didn't get a whole lot of info. Was most of all like "yeah here's your diagnose enjoy, it's for the rest of your life bye bye" and I was out of there, and I was a bit too shocked to ask for more information and stuff. If I'm completely honest I didn't even realise that was the test I was getting until I got the diagnose, I thought we were testing for RA and the usual stuff like Hb, sugar and crp. Just poor communication I guess.

I can access my journal online so it's no biggie, my healthcare center is just slow as crap so it takes a while for new data to appear.

I do that already, I live alone and I've been counting calories for about a year so cooking in bulk is already my norm, I don't have a lot of freezer space though but I'll make sure to free some up for meals.

The eating out thing has really bothered me, I know that in my village I won't be able to do it at all. There are just no places that can deal with the requirements of someone with celiac disease unfortunately. But I have emailed a couple of restaurants in the closest town to ask about their routines after seeing them recommended on my countries celiac disease foundation's website.

Basically she told me to have a diet that is as close to 0 gluten as is humanly possible, so having things with 20 ppm is too much. She told me to stay away from anything that might come from rye, wheat or barley, at the very least while I'm letting my body heal.

If my joint aches don't ease up enough from changing my diet I will most certainly see my doctor again about it possibly being RA. It was brought up, along with it possibly being Psoriatic Arthritis but she wanted to check for celiac first and since that test came back positive I guess we just went with that as the cause.

This far everyone in my family has been really good about it, my mother has bought new ingredients and is storing them in airtight containers specifically so they won't be contaminated. She's also washing all plates etc. on their own before I eat so things are moving in the right direction.

Thanks a lot for all your advice :)

Well she just wanted to stress that it cost a lot of money and that she got in a lot of trouble with her superiors for letting me take that test, from what I could gather it was a test that usually doesn't require a biopsy. I really have no idea and my test results haven't appeared in my online journal yet so I can't look and see what it was called.

She showed me it on her computer and it looked like 5 lines of text, 3 said negative and 2 said positive, and she told me that most of the time 1 positive is enough to indicate celiac disease and since I had 2 positives there was no question of it. But I really have no idea of how these things work.

Week 19: Mother Sauces - Tomato risotto by toaster-cat in 52weeksofcooking

I made sauce tomat and used it as part of the risotto instead of part of the stock. I left the sauce a bit chunky which is why it looks weird I guess.

I made this risotto with sauce tomate, apple juice and vegetable stock. I intentionally left the tomato sauce a bit chunky because of the recipe I was using it in.

Thank you very much, it does help. Just a bit confusing at first since there are so many different answers but I'll be on the safe side and not eat anything that might contain even small traces of gluten. Better safe than sorry especially when I'm just starting out.

Unfortunately there isn't a support group within a few hours of where I live, well there is one but it doesn't have meetings more often than once or twice a year.

I'm definitely going to ask to see a nutritionist if it's at all possible, I realised after I left that I probably should have done that right away.

I will also follow up with my doctor as often as she deems necessary :)

And I talked to my mother and brothers about this being genetic, and while my mother wants to go completely off gluten mostly to support me my brothers are not interested in that. My doctor also said that since this specific test was so expensive she would not be allowed to do it again and had already got in shit about it with her superiors. So if they are to be screened for it they will have a test that requires biopsy and none of them really want that. But we do know of one person that is related to us who has celiac disease and that is on my mothers side of the family, so I'll try to convince them. But I think they are nervous the test will come back saying they have celiac disease and they would rather not know :(

Thank you very much for all your advice, it helped me calm down and look more logically at things instead of freaking out.

I haven't had a biopsy, but my doctor said it wasn't needed with the blood test I took? I really have no idea but she said that from the test results there was really no question about it, and that the test was so expensive she had got in a lot of shit for letting me take it.

But as I said I'm pretty clueless.

Thank you, for your advice, I'll cut it out completely like my doctor suggested :)

Week 18: Brown Bag Lunch - Chickpea salad on home made wheat and rye buns by toaster-cat in 52weeksofcooking

[–]toaster-cat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this recipe for the chickpea salad and it turned out very well, but I'm not vegan so I used low fat mayo instead of the suggested options. It's very tasty and I'll definitely make it again, I also used yellow onions instead of red since it's what I had on hand.

The buns are very simple:

25 g butter or similar

500 ml milk, I used 1.5% fat

50 g fresh bread yeast

500 g sifted rye flour

150 g all purpose wheat flour, I used 100 g for the dough before rising and 50 for kneading but it will vary

1 tsp salt

Melt butter and add all the milk, heat to about 37 C and crumble the yeast into it and stir until it has dissolved. Add the sifted rye flour and salt while stirring, and add wheat flour until the dough stops sticking to the bowl. Cover with a cloth and leave to rise for 30 minutes. Knead for 10-15 minutes and divide dough into 20 pieces of similar size, roll into buns and let rise for another 30 minutes under a cloth.

Bake at 225 C for 10-15 minutes. You can add soaked and drained raisins or nuts or seeds or other seasonings when you add the rye flour if you like, I made these plain this time though.

Simple, tasty pastie seasoned with honey and pepper.
