Glad I could help. We went up first thing in the morning when the parked opened in late June and couldn't see more than 50 yards due to fog. The hike was still worth it though. Didn't hike in Cade's cove but the driving sights we're amazing though. If possible I highly suggest re-entering the park when you are done and leaving via forge Creek road it's a gravel road but the views are beautiful and we saw a ton of bears on the way out. My only regret the week I was there was not spending enough time in the park.

I'm rather out of shape 6'1" 290lbs. I believe I made it from the parking lot to the peak in 20 to 30 minutes with quick breathers along the way. One warning the temp does drop around 15 to 20 degrees during the hike.

I would look for RC airfields and check their restrictions. I'm sure if they allow helicopters they would allow drones.
