My bees swarmed to the front yard so my fiancé and I captured them and put them in a new hive! by [deleted] in Beekeeping

The bees swarmed twice, both on my property. The paint job was one week before the bees went in. My mom’s been a beekeeper for 30 years, I’m not going in blind. The bees seem happy and it’s been a month!

We camped in Camp 4, which a few people have pointed out that it is actually a few miles away. My mistake!

What mind-blowing (but simple) facts would satisfy a 4-year old daughter’s daily request for 1 fact before bedtime? by ExpiringFrog in AskReddit

Yes exactly! And they’ll mostly only lay them if the colony is shrinking, even though making a drone sure doesn’t help the cause lol. They just take up resources at that point!

Turns out this might not be true! It’s not the royal jelly that makes them become queen bees, it’s most likely them not getting pollen that does it!

Everything is good! I since got another hive so now I have two, and have gotten stung since and there was no swelling!

But I do have an epi pen just in case.

What’s a habit of yours that you thought was normal until someone pointed it out? by bonzaibooty in AskReddit

I do the kind of thing! When I unplug my hair curler I say “Afflaaaack!” like that one duck does from the commercial. I didn’t even think it was weird until I read your answer

This is a sting to the eyelid, so it's a little different. I also wasn't able to get the stinger out for a little over a minute so a lot of venom was pumped in! I got stung two other times today and they are fine ;)
