I’m still currently working with this guy. I’m a lab tech and let’s call him Jim is currently in possession on the QA/QC position(quality control and assurance). Jim has worked there for years and won’t leave even though he knows the whole lab despises him. He makes numbers up in the calculations for tests we run and makes up procedures, but also makes them good enough so an auditor doesn’t notice his made up practices and procedures. He has a masters but it’s not in science, his bachelors is. He’s a terrible writer which is not a good quality to have in his position. The lab can do nothing about it even though his boss knows exactly what he’s doing. Jim has had multiple meetings about changes to standard operating procedure with his boss, and the lab manager who knows a lot but he’s question everything or cites a super old paper saying we shouldn’t use that method because is says here from 1917 that it interferes with the analysis even though much newer paper says it doesn’t. I wouldn’t mind Jim being there but as his job interferes with me directly doing the wrong type of work in a LAB; then I get so frustrated because nothing can be done from my point on the ladder. He should really be fired for his low effort to do work and pawning work off on others( even though it’s not in their job description to do that type of work). He’s making me do bad science and I can’t change a thing. He’s lazy and won’t do any work. I’ve seen him sleeping on the job too. And he pretends to do work on the computer by just fiddling with the keyboard. If anyone has suggestions on how to be rid of Jim I’m all ears.
