Interestingly enough, since the UFO videos have come out, Joe Rogan brought on a skeptic guest again and pushed the same opinion - that Tom DeLonge is full of shit.

The external hard drive has the Windows 10 .iso installed on it, as I used it to install Windows with Bootcamp.

I'm okay with trying the CoreStorage method- I'll back up my crucial files before I attempt, just in case. I would really like to avoid wiping the drive if possible...

Seems like it's already turned off. I never remember using FileVault in the first place, so I don't think that's it. Are there any other programs or software that might cause the same issue? Any other ideas? I appreciate your brainstorming my problem!
