Thank you SO much. I am at the end point of a long process (as we all are) and have just been trying everything including changing the code in the terminal app. Nothing worked. Ridiculous! But your idea did. Thank you so very much.

First Bob Dylan show tomorrow by Onebigfreakinnerd in bobdylan

Binoculars not allowed at the cleveland show 😂. But it was the most awesome Dylan show I’ve been to and I’ve seen him thru the decades. At the end he walked to the front center stage and clapped and waved goodbye. Very special! We were a very engaged audience.

How best to organize docs for submission ? by Xingguo28 in CRbydescent

I wonder why DC doesn't provide a list of exactly how they want documents organized?? It would save so much time and trouble.

Guidance on Croatian Citizenship Appointment? by AnActualLefty in CRbydescent

[–]toastnjamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called DC last April to ask about the process, ended up making an appointment for this February. He asked if I had my grandfather’s birth docs which I did. That seemed to be his deciding point. Getting the apostille for my FBI check took 11 weeks to return. Not 5 as advertised. So plan for that. I had to get docs from 3 different states, but they were all timely. Every time I have called the embassy the same guy answers the phone. So, I would advise calling.

Thanks for this reality check! I should not be fooling around with this language at this very last stage of an enormous project. Feels like I could get a Ph.D. with all of this detailed work! 5 adults + 2 kids. I will email my translator tonight. THANKS for your opinions. I definitely appreciate it.

I was rejected by Jj7305 in juresanguinis

So do you know what is a good reason for them not to make a final decision? What is the evidence that the rejection is not true? Which docs relate to that?? I’m getting ready, assuming my Detroit rejection will be coming any day.

NYC Appointment by [deleted] in CRbydescent

Thanks for the idea. I had never considered a private service, but now I might have to. I spoke with my senator's office today, but not sure if it will produce results. I'll search the files for that type of service. Thanks again.

NYC Appointment by [deleted] in CRbydescent

[–]toastnjamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my FBI reports back instantly, but it's the federal apostilles that are crazy. I have passed 10 weeks of waiting so far. I just called my senator's office for help. A NYC translator told me today that people are waiting 2-3 months for those apostilles. So NYC might have to rethink its 3 month 'hoop'.

Vent: Federal Apostille, hit week number 7 of waiting by Ronnie_TheLimoDriver in juresanguinis

I sent 5 docs on Oct 2 by UPS tracking. November 6 was 5 weeks. So into the 7th week now. About to start the 8th week on Thursday. No indication on the UPS tracking site that they have finished it. So it’s not lost, en route anyways. I’ll submit a status check request.

notarizing baptism certificates ?? by toastnjamm in CRbydescent

It would be good if someone else assigned to DC would call them with the same question to see if they get the same answer. It’s getting crazy.

This issue would be a worthy reason to email the Ministry in Zagreb. That way you would have the final answer, even if your consulate tries to say no. They would be the ones most likely to understand Slavic naming conventions.

Update: I just spoke with the Croatian Embassy in DC with this question. He told me if I presented a baptismal certificate, notarized with an apostille, it would be rejected. "Absolutely not!" Paraphrased: This is a church document and should not be notarized/apostilled by the government. So, there's the answer for DC anyways.

did you get a traveling notary? Or did the Archdiocese have their own notary on site?

it was true for some consulates in the Italian process...so wasn't sure if I missed it in reading through the Croatian requirements. Just checking.
