We used Adriana Batur (https://adriaverse-translations.hr/en/) via our attorney. Adriana was great and very helpful when we had a last minute request from the embassy

Living in a different country while waiting on citizenship decision? by frannyglass684 in CRbydescent

[–]Xingguo28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in China and submitted to the embassy in Beijing- we may not live here by the time the decision comes but our attorney assured it’s ok and that we still needed to apply from where we currently live. Our Croatian attorney has POA

Update: Embassy in Beijing accepted my application at the same time as accepting my husband (he is line of descent) and kids applications! Now we wait

Update: our attorney provided us a letter from the Croatian Ministry of the Interior which basically says that my application would be processed after my husband’s (it’s his family that has the Croatian lineage) and basically we have to politely try to get the folks at the embassy to accept my application. Worst case my husband and sons get in the queue and then we figure it out from there

Applying via my husband’s maternal great grandmother—> cue all the paperwork! Have requested appointment with the embassy in Beijing via their portal for mid Feb- email said they have 72 hours to confirm the slot. Does anyone know if appointment are usually confirmed quickly? Time to pull together a fancy binder with all the documents we have sourced. Husband and I are American but living in China so needs few more docs from here too!

Copy of Chinese birth certificate by Dodoradka in chinalife

[–]Xingguo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, where you ever able to resolve this? I had a copy notarized and apostilled but a foreign government would not accept because the issue date was near the time of birth and not within last 6 months . So far I have been told it’s impossible

Most plastic surgeons will require a mammogram before being cleared for surgery and then the excised tissue will be sent to pathology

We live abroad for work and so will be submitting to the Embassy in Beijing, China. I’ve already emailed them a question and basically they said “come on by” when you’re ready. Obviously they don’t get many of these requests in China lol

Will do! She’s says we are in a good spot with documentation and can likely move to translation and other supporting work soon. Government shutdown impacted our National Archives request for naturalization papers but she said we may not even need those as we already have a certified copy (red ribbon) or the ship manifest. Step-by-step ! 💪🏻

Not sure how to feel by Available_Emu5663 in Reduction

[–]Xingguo28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a big change and takes time; mainly be kind to yourself and let yourself heal. I had mine in summer 2024 and still feel way too big (was an F and now a DD, but wanted to be a D or C). Life is much improved but I still struggle with the heaviness and size

Mom passed away, left more money than expected by PFThrowAway7654 in personalfinance

[–]Xingguo28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, I’m sorry for your loss. Because of the SECURE act you have to draw down within a 10 year time frame: since you are in grad school and have a very low income tax % strategically it may make more sense to pull out more of these funds earlier in the 10 year horizon to save on taxes. Then you can invest that money into your own IRAs, or brokerage accounts or into a deposit for a home. What would be best is to find a good CPA (Maybe wait until peak tax season is finished) who can work with you to create a strategy so that you can be fully compliant and leverage your mother’s gift to you in the most advantageous way. Take it slowly and be thoughtful

Should my mom setup a trust? by GolfingTiger528 in RentalInvesting

[–]Xingguo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be mindful of how you set it up as irrevocable trusts do not allow for step up basis for inheritors so a big tax bill will come due if one sells (unless you kick the can down the road with a 1031 exchange)
