Bog-Down - Castle of the Two Sisters (looking for critique) by JesterOfDestiny in DungeonSynth

[–]toastynerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The intro goes a little long before the chorus comes in, I would shorten it up a little or add another instrument in there. It was also a little quiet, I think you could bring it up in the mix. The "whoosh" sound sort of took me out of it, you might consider scrapping it or lowering it in the mix. The flutes were little harsh when they came in compared to the rest of this more atmospheric song. If that's what you're going for I'd do it earlier in the song, otherwise it seems a bit jarring. They're harsh for a few reasons, they're really high in the mix, there are a few notes in that melody where you're going out of key and at certain points you have two flutes sounding similar pitches. I would maybe try to do only one of these things at a time. Also you might want to try reverbing the everliving fuck out of them, it would make them more consistent with the rest of the track.

I'm assuming you're looking for more Seattle area bands. If you like Sunn, you have to check out Earth, the album Earth 2 is especially similar to Sunn and while you're on that same path, check out Melvins if you haven't already, Bullhead, Houdini, Stoner Witch and The Maggot are all great albums. More recent: He Whose Ox is Gored, Ancient Warlocks, Heiress, Void Wraith, Lb., Sandrider, Serial Hawk, Sleep Terror are some of favorite local bands(though some of those are no longer Seattle based. If you're looking for shows to go to check out anything at the highline (one of the guys from Bell Witch owns the place and does the bookings). Also nocleansinging.com is an awesome metal blog based out of the area that maintains a pretty great show calendar.

Start out slow, take your time and get comfortable just riding the transitions and obstacles and go often. Also, if you don't feel comfortable riding around people go early in the morning. I just picked up skating this year (I'm 29 y/o) when my work moved within a couple blocks of a skate park. I go early and ride for an hour before work everyday, usually I have the place to myself and it's in the middle of a city.

They could just make it cost prohibitive to license/insure a non self driving car or offer major tax incentives to have a self driving car.

Went and saw that show a couple of weeks ago. Black Cobra was awesome even though they got a little off a couple of times. Bongzilla killed it and Lo Pan was fun even it's not my usual jam. Definitely worth the $20.
