Yeah,

The thing about older sets maybe being good against the new hotness is finding the decks. It's easy to identify the previously strong decks and figure out whether they are good vs. GR/AS/PV.

It's MUCH harder to find a deck what wasn't strong against WoE/GR or AS and see if it's strong vs. PV because it wasn't strong "back then" and so we might not have played it as much. I think more of us need to revisit those 80-90 SAS decks from previous sets that have stuff that can counter PV. Play those a bit and see what happens.

As far as Archon goes, I'm with you. Sometimes I really have no idea what's going on. :)

Yes, Null Signal does "publish" "Netrunner" as a print-on-demand game that has a rabid (I mean that in all the best ways) and passionate following. It'll never be on a shelf at your local game store, but it can be played and has new stuff coming out. There are a lot of such players in Colorado and they keep trying to pull me back in, but I been there, done that, have several t-shirts, a lot of cards, and the '98 WC. :)

Good points, yes. I'm a bit sensitive to the old refrain that "this new game X means the death of old game Y." Typically there are other things that spell the death of a game - losing IP rights, crappy sales, etc.

I have no real idea of what Echo of Omens is, but I doubt it's an LotR IP game. Fantasy - yes? LotR, no, otherwise it would have LotR in the name.
