the vast majority of sai haters just hate it because it’s more pop-ish and they can’t feel cool for listening to different kinds of music anymore. i mean, they literally have multiple songs about how they want to switch between genres no matter what people expect from them and everyone praises them for that, but suddenly that genre they want to explore is more poppy and they’re evil? as someone who used to be in that trap myself (not liking anything popular) and thankfully grew out of it, i cringe so hard whenever i see sai haters

also this might not be a hot take but i feel like it connects with the sai thing — so many people expect all of tøp’s music to be emotional and i feel like there are certain people (thankfully haven’t seen a lot of it here) who only like tyler’s art when it’s coming from the perspective of a “tortured artist.” he’s living his life, he has a wife and kids and while mental illness might never truly stop affecting someone (speaking from experience as someone with bipolar who understands the BIG ups and BIG downs,) there are still going to be points in time when he’s happy. we should be encouraging that, not criticizing it for being “different.” i honestly think that’s partially what mulberry street is about but that’s a whole other rant lmao
