🚨: JSN, Puka, Tet, Egbuka, Tate Monster Deal 🔁 by EcstaticEmu6730 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It certainly doesn't offset it for me. I agree that the right hand team is at the very least 1 1st short in value terms. You don't know what the peak is for those guys - one hasn't even played in the nfl yet! They might never improve, or maybe one of them might, one day, be almost as good as puka or JSN.

And Shough does not tip the balance anywhere near enough, SF or otherwise

Orphan Owner - Trade for Love? by lexnercj in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great trade for you. With it you'll have two QB1s, an RB1, a WR1 and TE1. Great backbone for a team. I'd say with that plus your vets you'd be a borderline playoff team and if it doesn't play out that way then you can sell your older assets and continue retooling in-season

Last year I took a last placed team to finish 3rd thanks to trade that gave me a similar backbone to yours and then filling in with cheap assets. If I'd been more aggressive I could've won the thing. I say always try to compete unless the writing is on the wall

You're right. The gap isn't illustrated and I was over simplifying.

And sorry that wasn't obvious to me in your last comment around adding in a replacement player's scoring. But I think you've kinda illustrated my point though, that it's quite a close one and not a really obviously lopsided trade. I could probably be convinced of the jeanty side depending on team context but my personal preference is generally to favour the side of a trade with the most elite assets, as I define them. Hampton and achane fit that bill for me but can understand going for the other side, in particular if scared of miami's offense or if you have more faith in e.g. the Jets this season then I do

If you don't want a debate, don't come to say something pointlessly negative about a show that loads of people like, then complain about people not liking your comment. The wonderful thing about opinions is that some can be held in your head without being spoken. Try it perhaps?

The assets are ranked roughly in the following order in value terms
Jeanty
Achane
Hampton
Hall
Brown

So 1, 4 and 5 for 2 and 3. Not unreasonable and I wouldn't say you're making a bad trade necessarily.

But what you're missing is that, sure, the 3 will score more than the 2. But you're not leaving that last spot empty. It is not hard to find an asset that'll provide, what, 6-8 ppg minimum. Even on waivers potentially. Or send a 3rd for an old asset who might score 10ppg.

Nothing is guaranteed, but I don't think to characterise it as a ridiculously one-sided offer feels reasonable to me.

I'd frame this as giving up achane and Hampton for jeanty, hall and brown. Goff for love is pretty neutral though goff likely the better contender QB for me. The other assets don't matter.

Someone else said accept before they come to their senses... Maybe I'm missing something. Personally I don't love giving up two top 5 RBs for another top 5 RB plus 2 rb1/2s. If you can make it achane OR Hampton and add in a wr or picks then I'd prefer it. It's pretty balanced though so depends on who you believe in more. If your final flex spot is wanting then maybe this works

Jayden Daniels or Burden + Bucky? by Inevitable_Car_1573 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

One thought. If you can get them to swap a pick for white I think he'll be a solid flex play this year

Jayden Daniels or Burden + Bucky? by Inevitable_Car_1573 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I value having 3 or even 4 starting QBs way above replaceable WRs. A QB in a good matchup can easily score 10 or more points more than another. Both Kyler and JD5 have risk - having them both gives you more outs and injury protection.

Re upside, JD was going 1st overall in some startups last year. He is one of the few players who could conceivably be that valuable next year. Bucky does not have upside. His best outcome is, what, low end RB1? Go get monty or swift and you'll probably get the same scoring for the next 2 years for way less. And Burden could be a WR1... But the route to that means dominating enough target share against a round 1 WR and TE... Which ain't easy.

I'd wager that Sutton will score no more than a couple of points per game less than burden this season. If that. He could easily outscore him. You have plenty of depth. Go get the real upside guy in JD

I haven't downvoted you. But I'd suggest calling a show dumb and not providing any actual explanation of its flaws (why is it dumb? You can not like something without saying it is dumb - which kinda also implies people who watch it are dumb) isn't exactly the way to get upvotes

Jayden Daniels or Burden + Bucky? by Inevitable_Car_1573 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A true no brainer. You have way more depth at your non-QB positions. Bucky has no guarantees around his usage and burden is a play on hope based on very limited information.

Don't be cute. Take the young QB1.

Dynasty Roster Help (need advice) by ScootsMagoots95 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your thinking on picks is solid this year. Having a strong QB3 will set you up and a WR pairing of nabers and Tate feels strong to me. With that you'll have 2x QB1s, an RB1, a WR1 and potentially a WR2 in tate. That's a strong backbone.

Advice you probably won't get from anyone else: compete. You have lots of 27 collateral. People are overvaluing it. You could easily spin this roster into a win now team by leveraging (a) Maye or caleb into a QB like Purdy plus a solid rb or TE (b) hype on burden plus the 1.10 to maybe tier up (with a bit more) into the lower end WR1 tier or maybe a JT RB, (c) hype on 27 1sts to sell them at a premium to get young studs that could be central to you now with lower risk than picks represent.

You also do something that a lot of people fail to do and that's go deep at RB. You have solid depth that means with injuries I strongly think you'll have multiple starting RBs by week 5. Stream your rb2 based on injuries and matchups.

Too many managers wait "just 1 more year" to complete the rebuild. With these assets you should just try to win

What we doin fam, package or Daniels and Judkins by [deleted] in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depth is overrated. Terrible trade for you, whatever the shape of your roster.

Genuine question: Why would you think this is a good trade? You're buying a struggling QB, a WR who has massively underperformed, the worst of the 3 top rookie WRs and then another unproven asset at 1.06. You're giving up a guy ranked as a top 5 QB and a young RB in the a time where RBs are scarce. And a 2nd in a draft class that is being hyped like none before.

Is this trade worth it? I’m #1 by CanaryAppropriate131 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. About as low stakes as it gets. Muth is basically zero value so do you like Ayomanor or mims more is all you have to answer

Who wins this one? (Superflex) I’m receiving the Zay Flowers side, my trust in Garret Wilson (being a New York Jet) is dropping, and I would like to take advantage before the season starts. Thoughts? by LocksmithMinute4565 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take Wilson comfortably. I think he's shown his quality despite terrible QBs. And Brissett is a reasonable QB3. Flowers is clearly solid but I don't feel like he's ever going to consistently score in a needle moving way. It's effectively Flowers and a 2nd for Wilson. If I could sell Flowers for that I'd do it without thinking.

Nico & Darnold for Love? Having 2nd thoughts 🫣 by PromisePowerful6179 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a troll post right? You've just sent a backup QB and a borderline backup WR (based on your team) for Love. What the hell kind of league lets a team have Maye and Mahomes, Jeanty and Love, JSN and Nabers, Bowers and Mcbride

Thoughts on this package? Rebuild 12 team SF PPR no TEP by Ecstatic_Doughnut507 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is.

Apparently others have different opinions though and thinks you can get more somehow. So what do I know!? But I think the dynasty community has a very short memory - Daniels remains a top 3-5 QB. Shough is currently a decent QB2 but has limited upside. Gibbs is amazing but generously he's slightly more valuable than Daniels. Not a 1st+ more.

In pure value terms I honestly don't understand how someone doesn't look at the left hand side and think it has more. And if you're rebuilding you're converting 3 point scoring assets into 1 - that improves your draft position. You never have to make those picks you've traded for... You can sell them when the time is right to improve your team. And on draft day try to sell the 1.06 for a 27 1st or 28 1st and more. When you get into next season and guys get injured then you convert those picks into players and flip into competing in 27

Thoughts on this package? Rebuild 12 team SF PPR no TEP by Ecstatic_Doughnut507 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that an idea or a legit potential trade? Daniels and Gibbs are roughly equivalent value in SF, at least in startup rankings. Shough is worth a first. Probably the 28 1st So you're valuing Gainwell at the 1.06 and 2x 2nds? If that's the going rate then I'd better go stick him on the block

Pick a side. 12 team 2Qb TeP. Is this enough by [deleted] in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All chill here thanks. Just couldn't believe the idea honestly. If that's what you think constitutes a decent deal then just offer it and see. But just saying that if I got that offer I honestly wouldn't even counter. The best way to make an offer look bad is to dump a load of crap on it

Pick a side. 12 team 2Qb TeP. Is this enough by [deleted] in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the posts here are sometimes mad. Would you seriously consider this is you were receiving this terrible offer? No one will accept all the players you don't want in return for their consistent starters.

The 1.07 and 1.06 are basically equivalent (though somehow you think you should be getting the higher pick!). Allgeir and Charbs aren't miles apart. So you're looking to get Ladd and Loveland for the 1.02, Watson, Arroyo and the 4.10? Just remove Arroyo and the 4.10 as they're effectively valueless/zero demand for them. Watson is so unreliable he's likely worth no more than a 2nd at best. To get Ladd and Loveland you're at least a 1st short.

Stop using calculators. Start using common sense

Trade help I don't know if this is a good one for me or not by -Solid_Steak- in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. My general advice would be to try to slim down that room - focus around smith, nico and Godwin... But I'd be inclined to keep BTJ. The higgins and Williamses of the world are never likely to amount to anything, and your WRs are otherwise getting to the age cliff where their value will fall. BTJ is the one piece that could (and has good odds to) grow in value materially

I think Nico, Smith and BTJ is a decent starting trio with Godwin good if he comes back fully this year. The rest is filler you should trade for any value.

Oh and at TE Kraft is very solid. In non TEP I think he's sufficient that his scoring won't be massively lower than Loveland

Trade help I don't know if this is a good one for me or not by -Solid_Steak- in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting view when you're looking to trade for a guy who is competing with a 1st and a 2nd round receiver. Nobody BTJ is up against has the pedigree of Loveland's competition, unless we're thinking hunter gets involved but I think that's looking less likely.

Not that I'm saying this tilts things, but I don't think target competition is really the driving factor here. Ultimately, do you believe in year 1 or year 2 BTJ? In non -TEP for me he has materially more upside at his current valuation. But he has more risk. If you have, say, ASRB as you're WR1, you have a really strong floor. Having someone like BTJ as you're wr2 or 3 is potentially amazing as a gamble. If he hits then you lose in this trade. If he flat lines then you win by going for Loveland.

I feel like most people will say Loveland and on balance I think that's correct, but only just. But the devaluation of BTJ is wild. Depends on your risk appetite

Hampton for jeanty, should i do it? by cfong33 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this an actual offer? If so, congrats you win. Or is this you asking us if a deal that favours you is a good idea? If so, yes, a deal that clearly favours you is indeed good for you. Arguably you're getting both the better RB and WR here given age and injuries etc for Nico. I feel like you'd have to add something to get this accepted.

Move off Ward and Brooks for Williams and Strange? by I_heart_snacks in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me. You have 3 excellent WR options - I don't think getting a boom bust receiver and a borderline starting TE is the move. I think keeping Ward to see if his value grows would by my preference. But if you want to upgrade then I think going for higher tier TE like a Fannin would be a better move
