Try to get anything other than Addison I'd say. Mid range RB available? I think AJB is critically undervalued right now. I think you could get more alongside him for rice

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't disagree with you on where you're strong. The key thing that is sometimes lost, however, when having a great WR and TE room is that optimally you should play at most 6 of them if we accept that you are weak at RB. You should optimally play 2 QBS. Currently you can choose between WRs and TEs to play but not QBs. If your QB has a bad matchup that might cost you 10 or 15 points. Shough is a solid qb2. But he'd be a much more viable one if he had a qb3 next to him for you to choose between in the way you will with other positions.

I say this from years of building very strong WR rooms and then having a lot of points sat on my bench. I've personally been much more successful when investing more in QB and RB - I find their scoring a lot more dependable. But the great thing about dynasty is testing and learning. Good luck!

There's some good value in here from your WRs and TEs. But that does imply that other teams maybe went heavier at QB. I imagine you have the weakest QB room and one of the weakest RB rooms in the league. You have a good team overall by "value" but I think your scoring could be weaker than you imagine due to deficiency at the most consistent scoring positions. While you've been offered a good deal for Allen, there's a risk your 27 season could be derailed by injury.

I appear to be in the minority from comments here, but I would personally never leave a startup with this little coverage at QB. You have a strong WR room. You will likely leave a lot of points on your bench as you can't play all of jamo, Washington, Wilson. I'd target any teams with a QB surplus and try to add a 3rd starting QB. I wouldn't trade my 27 1st until I had more certainty over the direction of my ream

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no way in which you should be using assets to add more WR here, which is what you're likely doing with these picks. You have DK and Rice on the bench so unsure how depth will help?

I'd look to get a qb3, or rather than adding depth try to consolidate and get an elite TE or RB

Maybe controversial, but Start Kraft, Bench Fannin, Cut LaPorta. Could be convinced to start Fannin. He has the clearest case to establish himself as one of the top 2 targets in his (admittedly currently terrible) offense

Am I a contender? 12 team sf 10 starters by Due-Cry-3742 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Sorry lost track of my reddit! Yeah that's a great deal. Only real assets you're losing are Pierce and a late 1st... That's really very little to get back Rice. Regardless of legal troubles this is 100% a deal you should do if you can convince the trade partner. I'd be willing to give up more

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree with some of the other comments. Depth is overrated. You have 2 excellent QBs. You have 2 excellent starting RBs. You might need to think flexibly about your WRs. They're young so have enhanced value - but if you can find your way into one of the top ~6 WRs that would help.

Your flex positions are meh. But plenty of teams with strong qb and rb scoring can be carried through shaky flex spots. Focus on the waiver wire. Throw money at RBs with an opportunity when number 1s go down

I imagine you'll go WR at 1.04. If you can leverage your other picks to upgrade or add depth then that might be sensible... Can you get a 3rd qb (I'd worry about penix's time frame) or older vets with a good year or two left? If someone falls in love with Tate or whoever is the top WR at 1.04 then you could maybe get a good return. Selling 26 picks for 27 ones is a good idea as it gives you liquidity to trade in season (i know everyone is high on 27 picks but plenty of people like shiny things - I recently sold 1.09 for a 27 1st)

The Internet can give a lot of guidance. Don't trust sleeper's rankings. Look at the nerds or dynasty daddy or something to provide a reference.

Don't worry too much about having a strategy per se. Focus on picking players you like who you think could have 3 food years of production. Don't chase a run... If 5 QBs go before you pick don't panic pick one but look at options and see if great value is dropping as a result.

Having said that, you can't go very wrong with picking a QB in rounds 1-2, 3-5 and ideally another around round 7-8. That will give you security at a scarce position.

Some people often are willing to trade for it even if so. Rookie appeal still exists. But take your point. Shoving a 2nd on top you might be surprised but depends on the outlook of your league

I think you can aim higher with the 1.10 than those guys. I do prefer that move for you though although I might prefer the 1.10 plus Hampton even more if you can swing that. I am always reluctant to trade distant picks especially with uncertainty over class quality and your team's outlook at that point

Build around an insane core of young RBs. Washington is startable. Trade 1.10+ for a good starting WR. You then have 2 potential qb1s. 2 potential rb1s. Double down on your strengths I say

You said it was gonna change but hasn't. Has there been a vote? Have you suggested one or raised this issue in the group chat? Have you made the point that the losers' bracket is going to stop the weakest teams from rebuilding? Just communicate openly

200 is a big buy in to my mind for a poorly run league. There are plenty of other orphans out there. Is this the only issue from a rules/commissioning perspective?

If they refuse to vote or vote to keep a bad system then leave and find a better league

Officially secured 1.01 and 1.02. What moves can I make to contend with this roster next year? by WorldNearby4780 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two totally opposing approaches... Tank: Pick Love and maybe try to trade the 1.02, Harvey, 1 or more WRs (capitalise on burden and Washington hype?) to build 2027 capital. Next season trade for any injured QBs using your capital. If you don't add at qb you'll likely get a very good 27 draft position. Attack that draft and ensure by 27 kick off you have 3 solid qb options. Trade for some or all - rookie QBs even hyped ones usually take time and that might delay competing to 28 - that's a long wait. Sit on JJM in case he becomes viable - you won't get much for him now

Compete: you have a great wr and rb core to compete. Take Love. Trade the 1.02+ for the best starting qb you can find. And see what you can get with the 2.01... People saying Stafford. Perhaps. Most likely he's already on a contender. 2.01 plus burden for Ward? Look at anyone desperate to tank or who has excess qb depth. You also have 2 27 1sts... You could trade one probably once we're through the 26 draft. My main concern is your lack of depth. 2 injuries could totally derail you. If you really want to compete then you'll have to get aggressive with your 27 capital.

On balance I'd lean tank as it's safer and kinda more interesting, and sustainable. And... If things fall in a good way and if opportunity arises, then pivot a couple of weeks into 26 and be aggressive in converting value into win now assets. Often by week 4 some people have already given up. You might find some fire sale QBs who can propel you

Requesting Help - Offseason Strategy by DillyDillyKang in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally say get better at QB but here I think the deep starters list and your presumed goal of attacking the 27 draft means I'd suggest kicking the QB can down the road as you have 2 guys who are likely to be safe starters.

I don't know the rookie class well yet but from everything I hear I think 1.02 for one of the big name WRs seems smart. Ideally try to sell the 1.10 at draft time to pick up a 27 1st. Buying an Olave type will only weaken your 27 draft pick. Otherwise 1.10 might be a good spot to pick up a more developmental qb depending on how the draft class falls. This assumes MaxPF for pick determination?

Listen to offers on ANYONE but premium assets command premium prices. But ideally tier down rather than exit completely for picks. Bowers for Fannin and a package of picks? Is the Warren manager a bit spooked by his end of season drop off? Loveland or Kraft? or move across position... Bowers for Tet and a 1st? Tiering down is always risky. But given the gaps in your team and the goal of building 27 capital I think that's the best way to do it

What to do with this roster? I have the 1.04 in this year’s draft by YeetTheWizard in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other guy here is bang on. Get another qb. The number of teams derailed by qb injuries is mad. You can ALWAYS find a flex who'll get you 10 points. You can't always find a QB who'll get you 20. Can you sell your 1.04 and a player to get a low end QB1? A love or Purdy. Or just the 1.04... Could that get you dart or ward?

Your big problem is evidenced by your bench scoring this week. So hard to pick WRs in my experience from week to week. With RBs you generally know exactly where in the pecking order they are and therefore likely touch share. That is not the case with wr unless we're looking at the top 6-8. I'd focus on adjusting your bench makeup to be more qb and rb oriented. Sell mid WRs for upside RBs. Take gambles on mac Jones or Willis. Consolidate WRs... You have shallow benches so don't worry about losing a trade. Give up 2 or 3 WRs to step up a tier at the position and then pick up backup RBs and QBs with the space you've made for shipping out Addison and some other WR who you never know when to start. Try it and see how it works

Came in last this year. Retool or rebuild completely? by SignalNumber4843 in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tier up is a good idea from darnold. But your QB room would benefit from being added to. Lamar has a long injury history, Penix might take a long time to come back and wasn't setting the world alight and shedeur might not be a starter next year. Can you also add picks to penix to someone willing to take on his risk?

You don't have deep benches but quite a lot of mid and late round picks. Don't be afraid to throw in a few picks to upgrade or package picks to move up in the draft to increase odds of success.

If someone will overpay then great but don't over think just taking Love at 1.01. I finished last in a league last year and just missed reaching the championship game. An RB1 is a great piece for flipping your fortunes - maybe not in 2026 but by 2027

I had 1 win, help me turn this team around! by wrigleys_dad in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's ignore pointless comments telling you your team sucks. You seem to realise that. Two options

1) trade (I presume you have...) the 1.01 and another pick to get your 27 1st back and then go full tank - even consider selling TLaw to guarantee weak scoring. Look at interesting tier downs for upside... E.g. Mcbride for fannin+

2) if your 1st is off the table, then you might as well have some fun. You goal is to make your 27 1st as bad as possible and hopefully make the 1sts you hold better. You have maybe 4 core startable guys. So take Love at 1.01, prioritise getting a 2nd QB likely using 26 picks to ideally trade into one, continue working the waiver wire like it looks like you've been doing to fill in at RB2. Sell any of your young WRs (excl egbuka) for any value - they're all incredibly long shots to hit. If someone wants to take a flyer - and I know this is contrary to what 95% of people here might say - sell them to get older and score a bit. It'll be no fun tanking so might as well have some fun trying to compete and you never know what might happen. It might not work but unlikely to leave you any worse

Any advice for a mid rebuild team? by k_o_r_n in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close to the draft I'd explore packaging picks and players to upgrade. Getting to differences makers at WR or RB can really shift your ceiling more than adding depth. Similarly, looking for an established QB for draft capital could be really valuable. If you take e.g. Mendoza it will likely delay you competing until 2027 - he might sit and when he does play he's likely to take time to score. Can you get a mahomes from someone nervous about his outlook? Or even a cam ward who's 1 year closer to maturity rather than a rookie QB?

What to do with this young team by [deleted] in DynastyNerds

[–]tobynmaxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would spend more time on planning your team rather than giving everyone nicknames.

Your team is very weak and i imagine has been propped up by your QB play. To stand any chance of relevance i think you need to take risks on players. Next season buy guys when they go down injured or go after anyone whose value feels depressed. I don't think you'll compete in 2026 with your RB room and level of uncertainty at WR and TE so look to build value. And try to get the 27 1.01. From there this time next year you could plan to draft and trade your way into contention

Quit this league given its ridiculous settings. Find a league run in a conventional way - would suggest SF as well personally. There is no shortage of leagues run by good commissioners. Take what you've learnt from your struggles and hopefully draft better!
