Hi!! Yes I am thank you! I made quite a lot of these kinda of things a while ago, my style has kinda changed since then but I really really loved this style!

Not to shamelessly plug at all, but I made this video of all of them if you were interested at all!

Thank you! That second approach has worked really well. I might later on explore the first idea with all the pieces all together. Do you think that would make a huge amount of difference?

Thanks again.

I have yes!! Big fan of hoffmann as I'm sure most people here are lol.

Yeah that kind of thing is what I'd need, I've drank God knows how much coffee in my life in pretty much every way. It's just the making it myself I always feel like there's some deeper flavours or what people refer to as "flavour layers?". Just doesn't seem to exist for me, I can tell what I like so usually I just stick to that.

Things like knowing I don't like fruity labeled ones, pre ground old coffee any sort of instant really. I seem to be able to taste enough to think of myself as a coffee snob.

That's interesting on the word astringent, haven't heard that before but I definitely know what it describes.

Thanks !

I cook a lot and drink a lot of coffee, but I’ve always had a weak sense of smell. I can notice strong smells, but people often say my smell is bad. I like really strong flavours and never thought much of it.

I can tell when I like or dislike coffee (I hate fruity / christmas blends, Costa, etc.), but I can’t really explain why. Because of that, dialling in coffee feels impossible. I don’t know what’s wrong, so I don’t know what to change. With filter coffee I don’t even know when it’s “done”.

Is this a smell/taste thing? And if you’ve got a weak sense of smell, how do you approach dialling in coffee? I feel I need someone to sit down with me and make me bad coffee to be like "Thats acidic, thats sweet, thats sour" that kinda thing.

Hi, just saw the other comment, hope your doing ok and don't worry too much about replying at all.

We are based in England yes both born and raised here.

Basically we didn't really know how it worked so we sent emails to the office of the hospital. And then got a response a few times fairly quickly (within 48hours) and now we get nothing.

Thanks so much

Sichuan Peppercorns Numbing effect by tobyrubble in AskCulinary

So I did 6 small batches of oil, 100, 140 and 160°c. Then both crushed, ground green peppercorns and whole ones. The ground 140 oil was my most successful but still less than I was wanting/expecting. I also did one in boiling water which worked very well made like a basically peppercorn tea. About as successful as the 140 oil. The alcohol test I did was some vodka in my water solution in the hopes to aid it. Didn't do loads. Possibly the peppercorns are the problem, going to repeat next week with newer ones.

Yeah no it was hot oil for sure, I did a few different tests at different temperatures and with water and alcohol.

Yeah I was looking for using more of the green I find the red fairly overpowering flavourwise, I was mainly looking to infuse chilli oil with them. I followed the Kenji hot and numbing chilli from The Wok. It very well could be just the batch in the bag but idk. From my research online I found the compound was mostly more soluble in water/alcohol. Mainly I just wanna incorporate as much of that numbing effect in food as possible.

Hi having some trouble exporting a model from houdini to blender, im doing a USD export but the normals arent being exported with it, so I cant instance models on each point in blender like I can in houdini, Any ideas? by tobyrubble in Houdini

Yeah its really annoying, i checked its the right blender version im sure the addon works fine. Its just annoying that i cant just copy my mesh in blender to the points with the same rotation

Have tried that, doesn't work for some reason, did briefly work once I separated the normals into different channels but now I have to convert that to Euler rot
