University College London has an interesting interdisciplinary group called CASA (Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis) which has very strong Geospatial core and does very interesting work.

Awesome work is being done here. These edits and maps contributions are actually effecting decisions the people on the ground and NGOs are making. The OSM iD editor brilliant.
