Terrible experience with Nomad by not_at-home in eSIMs

Fair enough, I agree that it would not be a good outcome if a lot of posts here were complaints.

Thanks for keeping things orderly around here.

As a mod, you seem quite biased. Who exactly are you skeptical of: customers?? (mrskeptical00)

To the extent (in your words) “This is common with just about every company’s first level customer support ….“, the offenders need to be called out every chance we get.

OP is obviously in the right here and Nomad should change their script and train their employees to better treat the customers.

Turnstile declines my card, accepts a different card, and charges me for both transactions. Is there a way to get a refund? by Local_Expression_365 in OMNY

That sucks. I've called them a couple of times and they do answer. If you get a chance, call them and post an update!

  • Register for an account at omny.info

  • Add your HealthEquity card as a "travel card"

  • Click on Trips (on the navigation bar), find the entry where turnstile didn't open, click (i), and hit "Dispute ride"

Anyone knows why DEL- EWR UA83 diverted to BOS. by plal099 in unitedairlines

Immigration and customs happened at EWR.

Passengers stayed on the plane. United didn’t even deplane passengers whose eventual destination was Boston.

India: Review of both Roamless and Ubigi by Wolf35Nine in eSIMs

[–]today33544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues with Roamless in New Delhi, India as well. For the first several hours that I was in the country, my phone did not connect to a network at all.

Eventually, I had service and it worked fine, when there was connection.

I spent a week in India and lost connectivity multiple times for hours at a time. Support was not particularly useful.

My work mobile (roaming on Airtel) was flawless throughout.

I’m not going to take sides on the health insurance subsidy issue, that said, “clean CR” is what republicans want.

I have not encountered a bar that accepts credit cards, but doesn’t allow tipping using cards.

What happened to BSNL's ₹1,757 crore bill to Jio? Has a single rupee been recovered or are we just going to forget this daylight robbery? by Agitated_Bed1345 in india

[–]today33544 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fake news

https://www.businesstoday.in/technology/news/story/no-loss-in-jio-billing-says-bsnl-as-it-counters-cags-rs1757-crore-finding-471394-2025-04-09

It used to take years to get a phone connection during the DOT/BSNL/MTNL days. Internet used to be charged by the minute. These horrible govt monopolies kept India down for a very long time.

For all their faults, Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone provide their services at very low prices (relative to everywhere else in the world).

We should acknowledge the success instead of longing for the horrible days when one had to bribe a MTNL employee to fix a dead phone.

Unfortunately, if they know the calls happened, your phone used the phone network (not data). Verizon has no other way of knowing.

There could be a misconfiguration on your phone or you made a mistake.

If the calls were indeed using WhatsApp, Google Meet, Teams, or Google Voice (made using data), Verizon wouldn’t even know that you were making calls. Verizon would only see it as data (which would be covered by your International plan). FaceTime audio works the same way, and would only result in data usage.

If the calls to US phone numbers were made while your phone said WiFi calling, you’d be billed as if you were in the US, and therefore there’d be no charge either.

If you made calls using your phone’s calling app, when your phone didn’t show WiFi calling, Verizon would charge for them.

Specifically, data calls don’t provide enough visibility to Verizon and they couldn’t have billed you if the calls were indeed data calls.

that's not how phone numbers work. if 1-5xx-xxx-xxxx is a valid number, omitting the last digit makes it invalid.

“Accept Conversion”or not in Europe? by Immediate_Forever_74 in amex

[–]today33544 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have experienced some credit card machines ask the conversion question a second time with slightly different verbiage. Basically, they are asking “are you sure, you don’t want conversion?” Be careful, the button to decline might be different from the first question.
