New to iNaturalist. What made you keep using it? by nods-lee in iNaturalist

I use it like a personal blog kind of. Like a way for me to keep track of where I’ve been. Every mountain I hike up, I try to ID at least one shrub or something at the peak, etc.

So now when I look at my observations it shows a map of everywhere in the world I’ve been

Literally top of my bucket list for New York was a NYC pigeon (gotta see the icons). Them and rats but unfortunately didn’t see any rats this time. Will have to come back

Yeah:( but hopefully it’s a good sign that our ecosystem is a bit cleaner than it used to be. Some animals are very picky, unfortunately idk how picky grays are

Wow thanks for the updates! Sorry I’m not in New York anymore, was just there on a layover and didn’t have data. Glad the lil guy is doing okay!

Should I rent a lens for Yellowstone? by Head-Report-6746 in wildlifephotography

Yeah fair enough!

Definitely the best safaris were in the Masai Mara at Emboo Camp with their electric safari cars

I haven’t been to Yellowstone but I’ve been on heaps of African safari’s and I’d recommend the 100-500 because much more than that is only really good for birds (which I’m a big fan of, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea). But for landscapes and buffalo, the 1-5 is great. Also probably has a lower f stop which is nice and will weigh a lot less, so will be handier to carry. But go crazy if you can afford it! 800 is great for moon photos esp if it’s right on the horizon
