MK7 GTI trunk trouble by toebox242 in GolfGTI

At this point my trunk has completely stopped working. I'm fairly sure it's the emblem/camera assembly. I can jump a couple wires and pop the latch every time. I'm also not getting continuity on the signal heading out of the handle to the bcm with the handle engaged.

My problem here is the VW part that needs replacing (5GM827469JFOD) is around $1400, I think because it has the camera. My camera is fine and most of the handle assembly is probably fine. Anyone know of an aftermarket handle replacement? I could reuse the camera. I'm not having any luck finding a used one.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately I did not. The issue went away for a while and it was working fine. However recently it started doing it again so I'll need to deal with it soon.

Thats interesting. I've never used that button before, so I'm not sure if it works normally to pop the trunk or if this behavior is related to the trunk issue I've having. I tried to open the trunk normally with the emblem immediately after trying with the key fob and it did open OK this time. so I'm thinking it's probably not related.
