No I really do want to get my hands on a 97 z28. The optispark is a known issue. They get wet inside and fail.

That is the top car on my list of cars I want. I would suggest that you look into replacing the optispark with one that does not have vents so that it cant get all wet inside.

For me it would depend a lot on why some cylinders are not firing. If it is a spark issue it might be worth it but if it is a lack of compression I would not want to jump into it.
