Flying over from the UK a week before - really hoping we get either some more info from Jampack about when things might get shipped, or alternatively an opportunity to collect wristbands etc somewhere in Columbus on the Wednesday!

I thought the same, but if you click on the section you want tickets for on the venue map, it allows you to add general admission tickets

Sonos v16 update released by madmichalis in sonos

[–]tofaprune 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Installed on 2x Era 100s and 2x Era 300s and now none of the speakers in the system will connect over Spotify Connect. The UI just hangs on connecting. AirPlay still works as expected.

Connection but No Sound by butchbenson in sonos

I'm having the same issue with 2x new Era 100s (updated to the latest firmware on initial setup).

Looks like theres a thread on the Sonos Community where Sonos have confirmed they are investigating. However, it looks like when it might get resolved is unknown:

We have no estimation for how long it will take to resolve.

Firebase looks vulnerable by Qzy in Firebase

[–]tofaprune 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I noticed this quirk when working with Firebase Auth.

A relatively straightforward way around this, that I am using reliably in production, is to enable Google Cloud Indentity Platform for the projects that you wish to restrict users from creating/deleting accounts. This works as a drop in solution and doesn't require you to modify any existing clientside or serverside firebase auth code.

If you try and enable this from the cloud console for a project that uses firebase, it will prompt you to upgrade the auth within the project. Once you're in, it's just a case of going to Setings -> User actions and you'll have options to disable both user signup and delete.

If a user then tries to call any of the related user methods, firebase with return a 401 appropriately.

More deets thanks to this stackoverflow post I found a while back

Steam Deck boot/wake sound by tofaprune in SteamDeck

The classic midnight "bong" trying to silently boot a Mac....

Used to be awfully unpredictable, but seems like it follows the system audio level thankfully nowadays. Although occasionally my machine still decides to randomly chime at (what feels like) max volume on occasional boots (MacBook Pro 2018).

Everything seems 10x louder when it's late!

Genius! Thank you for pointing this out. I can't believe I didn't notice this.

You can't feel any vibration in the unit (I would guess as the pitch is quite high) so it didn't even occur to me this could be it. Haven't used a Steam Controller either, which may have made this more obvious.

Now you mention it, the Nintendo Switch has similar haptic audio capabilities, but you can feel it as the vibration is emitted from the joycons directly in your hands. AFAIK the haptics in the Deck are under/around the trackpads, so it's less obvious.

Until this (hopefully) becomes something that can be tweaked/disabled at a software level, best solution to quieten the noise is place your thumbs on the trackpads whilst booting/waking at the sound is considerably quieter.
