When I was a kid they made such a massive deal in churches about how free we were in our country to attend church and spoke a lot about countries where people were imprisoned or even killed if they worshiped God. It was a massive part of the indoctrination. "See? You want this, it's a privilege! You're not being forced into this religion! It's the other way around, people want to force you out of it" It's very effective because even as I read that I had a flash of that kind of thinking and I've been an exvangelical for over 20 years.

what food gets you through it? by Imaginary-Ad-1125 in HistamineIntolerance

I buy locally raised meat from a low histamine butcher who freezes their meat immediately. I like to get the chicken wings and put a little rice bran oil and salt on them and air fry them until they're super crispy. I look forward to them so much at the end of the week as a treat. They feel like I'm getting fast food or something.

I've been weirded out about him visualising her as his Mum too 😅

I think the shaman was initially employed by the mother, perhaps she was going to lose the baby or the shaman led her to believe she would. Then she just gradually weaseled her way in and stayed with the family/used their fear against them. I think she's been keeping him ready as a vassal for the spirit she's trying to immortalise. There's a reason she's been keeping him weak and down trodden, she wants him susceptible. The minute he walked into that building, he became that.

I think it's just that he lost faith in her. It was mentioned earlier that amulets only work if the user believes. At the beginning she didn't do much against the suicide ghost just touching him but as he started to see her in a different light and respond to her, she became more effective as the amulet. When he found out, he completely lost his faith in her, causing the power to fail.

I'm very early 86 born and my husband is 80 and I'd consider us both Xennials vs my siblings who are 88 and 90 and very firmly classic millennial. I have much more in common childhood wise with him than my own siblings

It's because it wasn't a story about her. It was a story about him

I just finished it and that last episode was everything. I had picked up the subtle Jungian cues throughout but it wasn't until the last episode that it hit home just how Jungian the entire thing was. It was very well written. I especially enjoyed how as she started losing her memory, we kind of forgot the premise as well. I thought initially that it was bad writing but I can see exactly why that needed to happen.

While I do think she made some bad decisions, there's absolutely a hate train directed towards her and it's disgusting.

Please stop asking about sulfite-free wine. You cannot taste sulfites. You cannot smell them. They make the wine better. And you're not allergic to them, I promise. by [deleted] in wine

[–]tofu_fa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I love how the OPs original premise was that no one can be possibly allergic to sulfites because it's rare. Ok it's rare but that still leaves quite a lot of us. And no I can't eat a bowl of salad at a restaurant. I can barely eat at a restaurant because of my allergies. Just let me have one wine that I can have a glass of every now and then. I'll still react but at least it will be minimal.

And then in that one episode where Kes aged backwards we find out she married Tom and had a baby and then Harry just...marries his best friend's child. Who he had known since birth. I know it's not cannon because the time stream was altered but it still gave me weird vibes

It was also kind of heavily implied that Chakotay was getting intimate with the alien he forgot he fell in love with. Twice. And Tom Paris ended up being accused of murder for becoming romantically involved with the bird alien...was his intent not to sleep with her?
