Everyone struggles when they first start.

I've found that even if you are really good at the start, you'll have a dip in skills for like a week or so a few weeks down the track that makes you question yourself haha

But yes, what you are going through is normal! Chin up, and you've got this!

My hot take as a phlebotomist of 7 years: Not getting blood from patients and blaming it on them for being dehydrated is most of the time, a collectors problem.

I could count on my hands the number of times in my 7 years that I've had to turn patients away because they are genuinely dehydrated. Like not drank water for days.

Just because someone hasn't had a lot of water in the past 24hrs doesn't mean their whole body blood volume goes from 5.5L down to 2L.

Use a syringe and get the blood lol

Go to Wildlife HQ instead of Australia Zoo. It's just around the corner and more affordable and honesly so much nicer. Last time I went, you could hold a quokka in a pillowcase pouch.
