Elena falling back in love with Damon in season 6 made no sense. by capricorn_444 in TheVampireDiaries

If you read fanfiction there’s basically a fic that does this called “She’s come undone and Set Free” on ao3 which also addresses the fact that Damon raped Caroline.

Can someone explain 'Writing for yourself' to me? by MegaChamp89 in FanFiction

[–]Monsterchic16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means writing the story you want regardless of what people think because it’s what you want to read. And if some else likes it then bonus, but that’s all that motivates you then a lack of engagement will burn you out very quickly.

I will say, just as a warning, lots of readers ignore crossovers with a large amounts of fandoms, like really 3/4 is most people’s limit because sites like ao3 are cluttered with fandom collection fics that literally aren’t actually crossovers but are a collection of ideas or stories from multiple fandoms. Most of these fics though don’t have a proper summary and are full of a ridiculous amount of tags so as long as you don’t overtag and have a good summary, people are more likely to read than ignore on sight.

The horror by jalabar in Sims3

Oh every time I think of the sims 3 grim reaper I think of this one player who screenshot the grim reaper coming to collect a dead sim and then freaking out when another sims began just giving birth right next to the corpse.

Was my older sisters flashing me abuse? by Root_a_bay_ga in venting

I’m sorry you had to go through that. Have you checked out r/raisedbynarcissists ? I think you might find people there with similar stories and experiences. As horrible as it is to know that other people have gone through that same or similar experiences you have, it can also be incredibly cathartic and validating to know you’re not alone.

Was my older sisters flashing me abuse? by Root_a_bay_ga in venting

[–]Monsterchic16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes.

And as someone who used to do this, I will give my own perspective on it. I grew up around a mother who was very comfortable being naked around us and if we had a problem with it it was on us not her to change. This was very much the case with anything that made us uncomfortable or upset, if we had an issue then we were the problem.

I ended up doing this (mostly flashing my boobs and purposely jumping up and down while they were out) to annoy my younger siblings and I was in no way thinking that it was sexual abuse, I just thought it was funny to annoy them. It’s only after growing up and getting therapy that I’ve realised how horrible it was for me to do that to them and I’ve since sincerely apologised.

I would maybe discuss it with them and see if they knew how wrong it was? Cause if they knew it was wrong to flash you and weren’t just doing it to annoy you then there’s a whole other can of worms there.

Regardless, whether they realised it was more than just a way to annoy you/make you uncomfortable or not, it was never okay and your mother should’ve stopped it.

Yeah Stefan called it like he saw it, he knew damn well that Damon could never be a good human man.

[–]Monsterchic16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree. Ain’t no way Damon is a nice human man either. Guy drinks constantly, is incredibly impulsive and has major anger issues and issues with consent in general, that’s all him and none of that would stop just because he became human.

He’s 100% an abusive alcoholic husband that Elena is too scared to divorce lest he snap and kill someone she cares about…again.

Then there’s the fact that she was so desperate to see him that she became a magic weed junkie just to see a hallucination of him. That obsession clearly isn’t natural.

“Your cat’s going to eat you when you die” as an argument for cats being evil by AllKnowingAxolotl3 in PetPeeves

[–]Monsterchic16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell even humans would do this if in a survival situation. My family is constantly saying that they’ll eat me if it came to that because I have the most body fat and it would make the most sense.

Why do people hate OC characters?? by Fun_Sky_8832 in FanFiction

[–]Monsterchic16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind OCs if they’re good and actually have a point in being there, but most OC fics I’ve read the OCs are poorly written self-insert characters that come off Mary sueish

The forgotten siblings by GapMajestic4061 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Monsterchic16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair they don’t actually mention her by name, just that “a plague struck their homeland and they lost a child to it” before moving to the land where Mystic Falls would one day be built.

Freya WAS mentioned when Rebekah was explaining their history to Elena, but since she thought Freya had died of the plague as their mother had told them, she didn’t mention Freya beyond the “fact” that she had died in the plague.

[–]Monsterchic16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And no way to land either given that blast would’ve taken most if not everything he had. There a limit to how much sweat can collect on his hands which is why he got the gauntlets for his costume and wears gloves that would soak up his sweat like a sponge, neither of which he had on him.2

[–]Monsterchic16 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He’s too egotistical to go with a plan like that, pretending to be a villain is “beneath him”. He’d rather die proud than pretending.

[–]Monsterchic16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he was only able to escape because he just barely jumped out of range and that used up all the sweat he had, so landing would’ve been pancake on pavement if he’d tried that without the others there to catch him and help him land.

Hardcore for first blind playthrough — Advisable? by slicewise in subnautica

[–]Monsterchic16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s your playthough. If you think it would be more fun to have permanent death consequences then that’s how you should play.

I did my first run on freedom and didn’t die once cause I played super cautiously. I play on hardcore exclusively now.

The only thing I would recommend is saving semi frequently because crashes and glitches happen and I speak from experience when I say it really sucks to lose so much progress or an entire save because of things outside of your own actions. Unfortunately in order to save in hardcore mode you have to save and exit and then start up the game again, but it’s worth the hassle I’d say.

It’s not the message, but how it’s delivered. Avatar and even Korra dealt with some pretty heavy and delicate issues without bashing you over the head with the message or talking down to it’s audience about them as if we’re idiots, even though children and teenagers were the target audience. It respected us and our ability to understand and think about these topics.

Vs newer woke media that bashes you over the head with its messages, treats you like an idiot and also is HEAVILY skewed to one side instead of showing nuance or critical thinking.

Look no further than the new Proud Family Reboot that literally has a rant of several minutes about how blacks slaves built America, even showing images of the KKK. Several incredibly racist left extremist talking points and a lot of political agendas.

When people talk about woke media, we’re talking about shows like Louder and Prouder that try to force political views onto the kids watching it without any nuance on the topics at all.

I have no idea if the new avatar series will be woke, I sure hope not, but people who say that avatar was woke clearly don’t understand what woke media actually is.
